The issue is witness interference. Hutchinson was represented by counsel and it is illegal to meet with her without her attorney present. Cheney did so to get Hutchinson to change her testimoney. Also lying under penalty of perjury is different than making a campaign promise. The dems had no problem going after Scooter Libby or any of Trump's guys for process crimes.
That won't stop unless the rules apply to everyone. Hell, Comey was the prosecutor in the Martha Stewart case and nailed her on a perjury charge and said the law applies to everyone rich and powerful or poor. On the other hand, he wouldn't prosecute PIPS even though she was guilty of violating the secrets statute because she didn't mean it.
