Not that simple, UW requires a foreign language credit the Clearinghouse doesn't. Most kids get them in HS anyway so it's rarely an issue, Kaho didn't. It's why we didn't make his top 5. If he was really going to have to sit out a year due to not having the needed year of foreign language, then was he not going to be on scholarship? ...in which case, why would he even need a release?
I suspect the truth is that the kid knew what he had to get done over the summer, and he didn't get it done, and Pete has been too classy to just say that (or Pete is mum because he doesn't like it when his OKG process fails...). -
