Pete needs to play aggressive the whole game. I remember the "fuck that shit.gif" a few years ago when we were ahead of Cal 42-7 or whatever and he was still pissed with a penalty. That seems to be gone this year. He gets ahead then wants to chill. Today I felt the fire was back some (not all the way). And the 5 minute ground and pound drive with 8 minutes to go on the game was spot on. And the call on fourth down the drive before with the touchdown pass was perfect. And Jake's comment after the game that he saw blitz and cover zero. Where was that at ASU? #ourbush finally getting it?

elite teams, reallly good teams, hell very good teams put inferior opponents like we are playing weekly in the Pac-12 to bed early and we just can't do that. If we were even a very good team, we come out of halftime at UCLA, force them to go 3 and out, go down and score to make it 38-10 and Gaskin is watching the rest of the game from the sidlines and plays the whole game against the ducks which we win by 7-10 in regulation instead of getting banged up late 3rd. That's why that shit matters, plus it allows you to get the back-ups game reps which pays off later in the year or the following season. -

When I hung out with the national championship team in 2011, one thing became apparent...they were as frustrated with those same few plays as well. The consensus I got, especially after talking with Mario for awhile, was how bad they felt for Lambo, for getting shorted his well deserved rose bowl trips.
USC stole 1 trip, Plummer just played like superman 10 weeks straight the other. Lambo got a bad break, but even he'd tell you he wished he tried out a few more kickers, started Dillon 2 quarters earlier and had Fiala wear sticky gloves. He deserved better from hedges, and you Johnny come lately cunts here. -
I'm not going to complain about beating an okay Buffo team by 14, but two years ago we blew them out of the water. So right now, we're not really improving. I don't get the goalpost moving. Year five is supposed to be the magical year when everything comes together. Now it's some other undefinable year according to a lot of people here due to recruiting or some bullshit reason.

He's good, I like him too, but there is a but and it's a pretty big one. Pete has elevated the program to very competent. There is no doubt the program is in good hands. They're winning most of their games, the losses are no longer blowouts, they're putting players in the league again, and seem to be weathering the effects of graduations/early declarations/injuries pretty well, "reloading instead of rebuilding". But. They have yet to win a really big game under Pete. True signature wins. They're missing. He needs to elevate the program another step.
