I agree w/ this. I don't agree with the bold part. The road to hell is paved with fairy tales about a better life waiting for us when this one's over.

Meditation techniques and other breathing exercises can be taught non-denominationally.

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with acknowledging spirituality in the abstract sense of it. The more organized and institutionalized rule-drive, the worse.

I kind of chuckle when someone thanks the "Universe". Its like I don't want to say God but I want to thank some mysterious entity but I'm an atheist so I'll just sound stupid and say universe instead.

I imagine that our atheist friends here find it as silly as I do.

I'm the kind of guy that insists that atheists be pure in their atheism. There is nothing to thank, no hidden hand, no force no nothing.

Unless you want to tell me I'm "stupid" for questioning a guy walking on water a few thousand years ago.

If there is an entity, it is as mysterious to me, as it is to you. You don't know even one more sliver of shit about the true nature of existence than do I, whether you think you've "found" something or not. Uncomfortable though that may be, it is what it is: Universe, God, Alah, Zeus, Mother Nature ... what-ever.
