Interesting. Offered a Georgia Kid

This kid will never come here. Offer doesn't make any sense. Same as offering Reuben Foster.

DISAGREE. I'm hearing he's a lifelong DAWGS fan so we had to offer. WOOF!!CokeGreaterThanPepsi said:This kid will never come here. Offer doesn't make any sense. Same as offering Reuben Foster.

Tennessee doesn't produce nearly enough in state high school talent and used to have pipelines to Ohio, Michigan and California.Dennis_DeYoung said:
Why the fuck would we want to waste time in GA? This kid is never coming to WA.whuggy said:Actually I really hope it's a sign

comes in this year, can the 10th asst.
coach be a designated recruiter?
PAC 12 is a cool conference, if they can get one kid from SEC country out there maybe others will follow...
I see it as extremely low risk, potentially high reward - certainly worth trying... -

Why is this so hard for people to understand ...
In a general class, we're going to recruit give or take 18 kids ...
In most years, our class will look like this from a geographical standpoint:
6-8 kids from the State of Washington ...
6-8 kids from the State of California (probably 2/3 NorCal and 1/3 SoCal) ...
Add those up and you're looking at 12-16 kids out of the 18 total that are going to be covered just by recruiting our general recruiting base ...
From there can we steal a kid or two out of Oregon, Arizona, Utah, or Colorado? What about Hawaii? Is there a high end recruit from Idaho? Does the feelers that we put out in Texas provide beneficial?
Now, where I disagree slightly with @Dennis_DeYoung and @CokeGreaterThanPepsi is that I don't have a problem IF we spend time going after kids in places like Georgia, Florida, etc. PROVIDED that the interest is as mutual between the kid and our staff. Going national WILL NEVER be a strategy for us and more importantly IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE.
We should never count on recruiting from those places as locks ... but we also shouldn't be blind enough to turn away from recruiting a DDY 3 if interested just so that we can lock in a generic DDY 2 that we will be able to talk to throughout the process and IF it becomes obvious that we'll miss on the DDY 3 that we move on to the DDY 2 and get that locked up.
IF there was a big miss in last year's recruiting cycle it was that we didn't move on to our Plan B guys early enough and it almost cost us dearly.

1/2 a natty in 1990
This past year The Dubs played two good teams, and well...
Washington can sustain staying in the Top 10 for awhile with great coaching and players mostly from Wash and Cali - but there is no reason to believe they will win a natty with the current formula...
If the goal is to be competitive and exciting, then no, they don't need to go national
But if the goal is a natty, they may need to lure a few 4 and 5 stars from Ohio, Michigan, Texas and / or SEC country
