I turned down a full ride to WSU to pay for UW. The guidance counselor was a Coug and he was like "Dennis, WSU needs students like you, I'm sure they will help you out if a ride isn't enough."
I told him that—all due respect (he was a good guy)—there was no way on earth I could ever be a Coug and that if they made me pay double to go to UW I would do it to avoid going to WSU.
It worked out well for me. Best decision I ever made. Literally. -
This is really fuckin' dumb. Seattle got its major sports franchises in the 1970s, but the UW has been playing football since the 1880s. I've noticed that a fair number of Recent Immigrant Landscapers in the area sport Cal caps. I think it's wonderful how they're adopting local sports affiliations in their quest for assimilation. However, for some reason, when I mention "oso de oro" to them, they look at me like I'm from Mars. Or the INS.
