But in Race's mythical Pac-B12 super conference scenario it wouldn't be PAC NW vs. Texas it would be PAC NW vs. the dregs of the B12. UW and UO are never getting left out of a major conference in favor of Iowa State, WVU, KState, etc. It's just a basic understanding of leverage and bargaining. The PAC is stronger than the B12 and UW is stronger than at least 15 out of the 22 schools.godawgst said:
But USC and UCLA would abandon the Pacific NW schools if it allowed them into the Texas Market.FremontTroll said:
So the Cali schools are going to abandon Washington and Oregon to go play West Virginia? Ohok.gif.TierbsHsotBoobs said:

Come up with a realistic conference realignment that cuts out the PAC.RaceBannon said:ESPN is going to launch the ACC Network. So that's 3 out of 4. It's between the Big12 and the Pac.
We? lose
Sorry to interrupt the self-hate session but it's not happening.
You're welcome.
We already saw during the last realignment that the Big12 was in the weakest position by far due to having the smallest footprint by population, their location getting squeezed in between three other conferences, and the unequal sharing of power between Texas and the rest. Those issues have only worsened with the defections and the incursion of the SEC into Texas.
There is no PAC school that makes sense as an expansion target for other schools culturally, geographically, or economically. Which is why there has never even been a rumor floated of such happening.
Washington and Oregon (and their little brothers) aren't going to be left out in favor of WVU and Iowa State.
That trumps both scenarios even if UW/Oregon is >>> WVU and Iowa State.
Try to make your masochistic wet dreams more realistic. -
Any of these individual scenarios are unlikely.Tequilla said:Less than 5% chance Oklahoma goes anywhere without at least one of Oklahoma State and/or Texas.
But I could easily see OU wanting to get away from UT. If they want to go to the B1G which would be their best move financially it would be without OSU. At least that would reunite them with Nebraska. -
...however, with Larry Scott leading strategy all happening at the same time is actually probable plus he'll get a great bonus! RIP Pac12FremontTroll said:

Having spent time in Oklahoma, the two schools won't split

Congratulations to the Coog and Boobie. You've managed to out stupid Tequilla in this thread. At least Sven's stupidity is mostly shtick.
Under Armour sucks, especially the shoes. They've never had one cool cleat or basketball shoe. It's a brand for middle aged white men.
College football wise, Nike has Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan... Basically every blue blood program or elite program other than Notre Dame. They aren't going anywhere. -

Why do they need the Pacific Northwest?
Why do they need Iowa State, West Virginia, Baylor, Kansas State, or Texas Tech?
You do point out several schools that can die in a fire though. The eventual culling of two mediocre conferences into the Western power conference will be interesting.
Nike will be like Reebok is now in 15 years.
Adidas will be Adidas.
Under Armour will be Nike in 5 years. -

Kids care about what the professional players wear 1000 x more than they care about what college teams are wearing. Nike isn't automatically getting the blue chip pro stars as they used to.
I hope that offered a little insight as you chat back and forth with Chest about pre-season SRS rankings. Give him my best will ya. -
Christ. I hope you're trolling. Nike doesn't have Curry and Tom Brady. That's it. Curry blew up after signing with Under Armour. His shoes still suck. His most recent release was rightfully destroyed online. The only reason he is with UA is because Nike hardly cared.salemcoog said:

You don't think Nike gets the next LeBron? Nobody, or at least very few in the basketball world thinks Under Armour basketball shoes are cool. When LeBron retires, Nike will have a new LeBron. LeBron can still release shoes and gear after retirement like another guy named Michael Jordan.
Almost every big college football team is with Nike. Same for basketball (Kentucky, Duke, UNC (Jordan), Michigan State). Nike has the inside track to 90% of good players from the best college teams. That's not important though, right? -
The shoe/athletic company on the way up is Adidas. Their lifestyle wear is now considered cool an they already had soccer.
The Yeezy's are the first shoes in a long time that are trendier than Jordan's. -
Put a fork in Under Armour and Curry. The Finals loss, the annoying wife, the shitty shoes...rodmansrage said:lets keep piling on UA

I'm very wary of Texass because of how they almost single handidly destroyed the Big 12, and at the least weakened it. They bring a lot to the table, but they're a school that needs to be kept in check, and a guy like Larry Scott and the ivory tower, p.c. West Coast types aren't the people to do it.
-
Your right that the Pac won't be able to keep Texas in check, and your going to take a lot of shit for giving them special deals, but I'd rather have them in the conf. and defend that position versus bitching/moaning/whining/ and having to try and sell the rest of CFB why the newly form West Coast Conference consisting of The current Pac-12 and Colorado State/BYU/Boise/Fresno St/San Diego State/San Jose State but minus UCLA and SC) is a 16 team power conf. just like the other four but gets no respect from the evil east coast bias media and thus gets screwed every year come 8 team playoff time.Fire_Marshall_Bill said:I'm very wary of Texass because of how they almost single handidly destroyed the Big 12, and at the least weakened it. I'm fine with any revenue split agreement with Texas as long as the chaps become assless.
