If Romars history of late signees continues then both will be gone in the next two years. Why he has to take these flyers on the dregs of the talent pool I don't know. If he would just open the coffee cup for some graduate transfers maybe our continuos senior problem may be solved.NEsnake12 said:
In the half court, having Green start at the 2 is infinitely better. But I expect Romar to start Crisp because he likes to have at least 2 capable ball handlers on the floor to break presses and run fast breaks. Green and Thybulle just aren't good enough ballhandlers yet, unless they made significant strides in he offseason.
Fultz will probably play ridiculous minutes because he's gonna have to facilitate the entire offense. And let's hope the late addition guards don't suck, so that Crisp doesn't have to play big minutes too.
See Ducks, Oregon. -
Don't completely disagree, but depth is pretty overrated. There have been many champions that play 6 or 7 guys. One back up guard and a back up big is pretty standard.FreeChavez said:
I think a lot of people are losing the point in the Dorsey. I'm not advocating Dorsey. I never bought he was a uw level player from day 1. The only person who liked Dorsey was Aaron beach who I'm pretty sure had his dick in his mouth while typing.
My point is that Rosters need depth for a lot of reasons and uw has NEVER been successful with elite frosh as the primary players. How many on here constantly bitch about ncaa vs nba. The idea is to build a program and Romar has failed in so many areas including building a team which fosters certain skills. I hate the zags but they find ways to take shit players and get 10 good minutes. Dorsey may not be the hill to die on but it's just another example of how we(?) lose players as they can become role players.
a lot of people out here assume talent is all that matters and team/vets don't matter. I would argue differently. Uw has become the program many Romar apologists argued against. It's uk lite. Lots of frosh/soph without results, and tons of transfers for guys who don't work right away. It's a pathetic attempt by Romar to keep his job and have people stay engaged in recruits. Teams needs a combo of vets and frosh elite talent to sustain success. Dorsey is just another body in a long line of players who could have helped down the line more than shitty jc transfers brought in with last minute scholarships.
I get your point, but Dorsey was worthless. -
Green has a little more potential than Dorsey, but I'm pretty sure he sucks too.

Disagree, I thought Green was pleasantly surprising last year. He's probably never gonna be all conference, but I think he'll be a solid starter by his junior/senior year. Dorsey was never going to be that.RoadDawg55 said:Green has a little more potential than Dorsey, but I'm pretty sure he sucks too.

Stop it. Green had a good game or two, but he was terrible. He averaged two points on a bad team. That little production wouldn't be a huge cause for concern at a good school, but At UW it is. Phil Nelson was a better player as a freshman.dnc said:

I doubt he will make it to his senior year. Thybulle is way ahead of him. The Porter's will be immediately ahead of him. College teams commonly play two PG's. Where is he getting minutes? I would bet $20 Sven bucks that Green will be gone before his junior year. -
I'll take that bet and raise you 20 Weiser bucks.RoadDawg55 said:

Who is the last Romar player that completely sucked as a freshman and turned out to be good? Green sucked. 2 points, 1 rebound, .2 assists on a team where it shouldn't be tough to get minutes.
Even maligned guys like Dentmon, Gaddy, Andrews were better than Green as a freshman. He sucks until proven otherwise.
Justin Holliday is the only guy I can think of and Romar raved about his athleticism and defensive ability from day one. -
Disagree. Green didn't play for most of the season, but stepped up and showed improvement when given a chance. Unlike Dorsey he actually has some bounce and quickness, played defense, AND was a better shooter.RoadDawg55 said:

The Porters are both bigs, Green is a guard. Fultz will be gone before they arrive. Not to mention the younger Porter will be a frosh when Green is a senior, and isn't as good as his big brother. Green isn't some star, but he's exactly the type of guy that could be a real contributor as an upperclassman that we? have lacked lately.
