ESPN is going to launch the ACC Network. So that's 3 out of 4. It's between the Big12 and the Pac.

    We? lose

Come up with a realistic conference realignment that cuts out the PAC.

Sorry to interrupt the self-hate session but it's not happening.
Current XII plus AZ and CA schools.

    You're welcome.
So the Cali schools are going to abandon Washington and Oregon to go play West Virginia? Ohok.gif.

We already saw during the last realignment that the Big12 was in the weakest position by far due to having the smallest footprint by population, their location getting squeezed in between three other conferences, and the unequal sharing of power between Texas and the rest. Those issues have only worsened with the defections and the incursion of the SEC into Texas.

There is no PAC school that makes sense as an expansion target for other schools culturally, geographically, or economically. Which is why there has never even been a rumor floated of such happening.

Washington and Oregon (and their little brothers) aren't going to be left out in favor of WVU and Iowa State.
People forget that ESPN runs college sports.

Why do they need the Pacific Northwest?
    Nike and Seattle.

Why do they need Iowa State, West Virginia, Baylor, Kansas State, or Texas Tech?
Seattle doesn't care about College Football when the Sounders are playing.

Houston's willing to meet with anybody to try to get their seat at any table ... they aren't negotiating from a position of strength.

Oklahoma and Texas have no reason to leave UNTIL they start making less money than the other big conferences (the Big 12 model isn't set up to be equal parts per school). That will eventually happen.

The PAC is always going to be an intriguing option for both Oklahoma and Texas because of the academics. The idea that the PAC had them both begging to come West isn't really accurate ... the money wasn't there for them.

    ACADEMIS!!!!!

Nike is a fading brand and the NBA proved you don't need Seattle to grow your revenues.

You do point out several schools that can die in a fire though. The eventual culling of two mediocre conferences into the Western power conference will be interesting.

Nike will be like Reebok is now in 15 years.

    Adidas will be Adidas.

Under Armour will be Nike in 5 years.

But in all seriousness the ship of the Okies and the Texans coming out West sailed in 2010. That will NEVER happen.

disagree, the value of Texas and the value of their TV network is way way way down from 2010. The deal died because Texas overvalued those two things, that might not be the case anymore.

I would just love to see baylor join the C-USA #StadiumDefault

This was a popular hot take in 2006. It will likely still be a popular hot take in 2026 and Nike will keep on dominating.

take texas, tech, OK OKlite, make a SW division and a pacific division. tell the religious schools to fuck off (just like we did with BYU).

how awesomely stupid would a religious conference be? TCU, BYU, Baylor, ?

That's the obvious move, which means it won't happen.
You want a scenario that involves the PAC shitting the bed that could actually happen?

B1G poaches Oklahoma and Kansas (Kansas actually brings in third most revenue in the Big12 due to underrated media market and basketball fanaticism.)

Texas bolts to ACC along with Notre Dame joining as full member. (Texas would love to be in a conference with Notre Dame as they view themselves similarly as national brands.)

SEC takes Okie State (Pickens money) and WVU(culture fit) or TCU/Baylor if it wants to further solidify it's Texas presence.

Alternatively it could go OU/OSU to SEC, KU and Notre Dame to B1G and Texas and WVU to ACC.

PAC could easily be left with shit if B12 falls apart and OU or UT no longer want to come West.

Less than 5% chance Oklahoma goes anywhere without at least one of Oklahoma State and/or Texas.

Washington and Oregon (and their little brothers) aren't going to be left out in favor of WVU and Iowa State.
But USC and UCLA would abandon the Pacific NW schools if it allowed them into the Texas Market.

That trumps both scenarios even if UW/Oregon is >>> WVU and Iowa State.
But in Race's mythical Pac-B12 super conference scenario it wouldn't be PAC NW vs. Texas it would be PAC NW vs. the dregs of the B12. UW and UO are never getting left out of a major conference in favor of Iowa State, WVU, KState, etc. It's just a basic understanding of leverage and bargaining. The PAC is stronger than the B12 and UW is stronger than at least 15 out of the 22 schools.

Try to make your masochistic wet dreams more realistic.
The XII is stronger because it has Texas and ESPN.
ESPN is bleeding money and not the all powerful brand you think it is. Hth.
