Noticed he wasn't there yesterday. They slid Eldrenkamp to LG and had Shelton at LT with Charles gone.

Wonder if they were just testing out Shelton at LT or if this is permanent now.

    Either way it'll be interesting.

Whatever. I'm not that concerned with all the BEEF Peterman has been bringing in.

Some big news out of Huskies camp this morning, as Washington announced fifth-year senior offensive lineman Dexter Charles has retired from football due to a lingering knee injury.

With 30 starts through his first three collegiate seasons, Charles was by far the most experienced member of UW’s relatively inexperienced offensive line. A native of Camano Island, Charles has already graduated from UW and seemed a sure thing to begin the season as the Huskies’ starting left guard.

He frequently played through injury during his career, though it seemed most of his problems were in his shoulder.

“We're all very disappointed that Dexter's injury won't allow him to continue to play,” Huskies coach Chris Petersen said in a statement released by UW. "I'm grateful for his dedication and hard work and very pleased that he earned his degree. He's interested in the coaching profession, and I wish him nothing but the best."

Petersen is scheduled to speak with reporters after this morning’s practice, so we’ll likely have more then.

Oh no! We'll be missing a guy who sucks!!! What will we do?!?

Though, I think this burns Adams' redshirt.

Nah, just means Andrew Kirkland will start.

    F'ing sh*t.

He was still a RS-SR with a boatload of starts.

Another reason to start Lindquist @ BSU since we'll have a new LT, LG, and C with the RG only having some starts a few seasons ago.

At least Tuff Guy Cozz is no longer the OL coach so I have faith Strausser can get it done.

I'm confused... this helps or hurts Sarks UW lineman legacy?

So this was lingering from Sark's tenure?

Yep. I'm guessing Shelton starts off at LT but Adams overtakes him.

Kirkland and Fuvai should be selling their couches soon enough as well. This may well yet be a normal O Line class. Too bad it's an absolutely terrible year for O Linemen

My guess of the starting OL @ BSU:

    LT: Coleman Shelton, RS-Soph
    LG: Jake Eldrenkamp, RS-JR
    C: Tufunga, RS-SR
    RG: Brostek, RS-JR
    RT: Matt James, RS-Frosh

McGary is probably the top OT off the bench since I've never heard anything even slightly positive about Kirkland.

I don't see McGary playing this year at all. Gotta remember he is really raw, I think he is a year away from contributing for us. He looks great, but needs to learn the position.

Adams got A LOT of work yesterday at LT. I think like others that he is starting by end of the year.
I've never seen McGary, but could he be a guy that by mid season or the end of the year can contribute? Am I wrong for seeing James more of a placeholder because he's more refined in his technique, understands the position, etc?

I think that is possible. He certainly physically looks very good. I am not an expert in OL play, but I am just guessing since he has only played the position for a year now he is likely behind some guys.

The coaches really like Matt James, but I think he might be a place holder at RT for right now until one of those big tackles is ready to take over at RT for him. I could however see him moving to guard or center down the road though.

Sounds like he is already nasty and pancaking guys so as long as he's physically ready I'm fine with him playing. Looks like Pete can recruit the lines well so fuck it lets win now.

I hope not. Starting frosh OL at the line rarely, rarely ends well.
I don't think this is a staff that would risk a career.

Which is why Sark started 3 freshman OL last year.

I'm more saying if he plays then he's ready to play. Maybe he's one of the guys that physically handle it, he sounds like a tough son of a bitch.
