Very low probability Demond backtracks and say he’ll stay with UW. He’s already anticipatorily breached the contract. UW has no legal obligations to perform its duties under the contract Demond reneged from under contract law. I don’t see how UW is on the hook to him for anything at this point. Plus, if UW wanted to play hardball, they can sue Demond for money damages for the breach of contract based on how much UW has to spend to get a similar QB under contract. Of course, I expect UW admin rolls over and just turtles…

This would be my pretend lawyer understanding. He's already in breach of contract and UW can sue for damages.

Hard to say if his instagram intention to enter the portal would count as a breach. Ultimately I agree it probably would, but who knows when that would settle. Our money could be temporarily tied up is the unfortunate reality. This is why I say there is really no upside to this legal stuff. It’s just spite to fight this, meanwhile every other team won’t have this burden on them and we’ll see the results of that on the field in 2026.
