Finally watched Sinners. Maybe never seen a movie I don't know how I feel about more than this. No getting around though that the first I'm not kidding hour+ is so slow I had to make it content I can only watch while running on a treadmill. There's also a lot of weird doesn't seem like the 30s dirty sex shit (but not sexy) which continues my thought that a lot of directors are oddly specifically perverted in a way.
Hard to assess really because of all the hype around it, but at the very least doesn't come anywhere near to that hype. I did like the final kind of credits scene.
Watched the first two Alien Earth episodes after being super excited about the show for years now. Actually seems to kind of move into action/gore way too fast and doesn't seem like the tone at all I was expecting from the creator. Also some of the wildest shit of does this make sense in a movie set in like 2150 with heavy Ice Age (Pixar movie) inclusion and 1970s baseball and people having Renaissance parties?
My big gripe so far is the alien always kind of came off as a semi-realistic monster with semi-realistic motivations and the one in it so far instead is a tornado of gore that seems like its more psycho murderer than reproduction-motivated giant insect.
This is pretty hilarious. The first two movies, which are 100x the best things the franchise produced, and some of the best sci-fi/action/horror movies of all-time had the secret robot shit in them and some of the this is really about an evil corporation shit, but it was like 5% of it and every release since then has seemed to quadruple down on the robot and evil company stuff.
I watched Aliens and the sequel to that movie which was kinda dumb. I then tried Prometheus but thought it was dumb and haven’t anything else in the franchise and don’t really care.
Great review! It's the most flagrant violator I've ever seen of people not acting scared in the way they should be in situations. That brother will constantly almost be slaughtered by a nightmarish alien but then escape and kind of walk around and have conversations like it's a typical day at the office.

I've never watched an Alien movie. Don't judge me
I watched episode 1 of Alien Earth and it took the whole show to realize it was THAT Alien.
I thought they were asking a lot of me to follow synthetic and cyborgs and hybrids but it makes sense that movie fans would know
Ill watch episode 2 and decide

Episode 2 was not promising. Don't give a shit about her brother and dark corridors with fake electric sparks gets old after 60 minutes

You're talking about Aliens?
Yes. Aren’t you talking about Aliens?
I liked Covenant and Romulus. Just as sci fi horror movies. Covenant probably has the most disturbing kill scene of any of the movies.
Romulus' color palette and cinematography made it well worth it.
Prometheus was a terrible way to try and reboot the franchise, if your goal was to get fans of the first movies back into it.
