Mission Impossible 3. Best of the bunch so far.

That's where we're still at, and I maybe agree. Maybe following how terrible II was helps it.

I thought 1 was cheesy but decent enough. I think I heard how bad 2 was never bothered with it or the rest of the series until this year.

    Significant Other:

Looked interesting on Paramount+ until at the beginning of the movie you see a tiny comet hitting the Pacific Crest Trail and you know you're in for a lame alien body snatcher shit fest. With the guy from White Lotus season 1 except instead of being a trust fund douche, he's a Oregon public schools vice principal douche. I didn't finish it. Maika Monroe was good but couldn't save it.

    Freaky Tales:

Saw the preview for this a month ago and it's be something I'd be into 10 years ago. But they missed the 80's synth throwback fad, it's one of like 10 movies in theaters that has Pedro Pascal in it, and the movie starts off with these Oakland punk rockers trying to prevent a group of Fresno Nazis from interrupting their buttfest concerts. Lame, turned it off.

    The Yogurt Shop Murders:

I know nothing about this situation in 1991 and the first episode was very good. Interesting case after what they've shown so far anyways.

Weapons. One of the best movies I've seen regardless of genre in a long time. Unpredictable. Eerie. Kind of funny. Kind of like a horror Pulp Fiction to me. One thing that's cool is it's a horror that doesn't rely on any established monsters like vampires or zombies or even like ghosts. It's also smart without being complex or homeworky.

Weapons. It is a great movie. Not your typical horror movie. Different in the sense if Get Out and not some demon in the house like the Conjuring.

The next Osgood Perkins movie Keeper was shown in the previews. Looks very good.

Perkins and Creggar are the kings right now.

Garland also consistent enough to be mentioned with how 28 Days franchise essentially needed him back to rekindle the magic. If he could have avoided fucking up the shitty last act of Men he'd be with them.

Aster and Villanueva are looking like roughly one hit wonders in the genre (yes Midsommer was good). Just so happened to make the two best films of all time.

I don't consider Eggers as much of a horror guy. He's a gothic visionary that started off with a horror movie, but Northman and Nosferatu are more dark fantasy. I don't remember what he's working on atm. Not sure it's even close to The Witch

    Martha Marcy May Marlene

Elizabeth Olsen escapes from a cult and lives with her sister Sarah Paulson and deals with the PTSD she has. Some boobs.

while not a movie, but powering through The Orville. Kinda like Star Trek TNG with a bit of humor and more hookups. Plus it has Norm MacDonald.

Alien Earth was released on HULU. Two years before the Nostromo and more kinds of alien.

The last I saw Eggers' next thing was going to be a Wolf Man type project though he was supposedly going to do Nosferatu after The Witch and ended up doing a couple things in between so wouldn't be surprised if that happens again. Not sure how I would feel on the Wolf Man thing because I'm sure it would be good but is his path just doing big cool hipster versions of all the classic monsters now?
