    Looking forward to Eddington tomorrow.

Hopefully Ari Aster realized that his last movie sucked and is not what people want to see out of him, but this is a dark comedy about the pandemic so he probably got another mulligan mountain of cash to light on fire here.

    Eddington

Cohen Brothers style story/movie is the only a way to describe this. Inspired by A Serious Man and Burn After Reading.

It hits on all the grifters and stupidity of the first 2-3 months of the pandemic, but the movie is ultimately comedy attempting to espouse what Ari Aster thinks goes through the mind of a conspiracy theorist.

It is a long movie and the first Act is boring and not well made. I also don't think anybody is really ready to relive the all the shitty situations with the masks and losers and tool bags.

A flip is finally switched in the story and the film is redeemed overall. The jokes that needed about 2 hours of set up do eventually pay off.

This won't be considered a cult classic like any of the Cohen brothers films, but there will probably be some scenes/jokes that be memed and a procured. Hard to talk about them without spoiling a long movie though.

Dexter Resurrection is on Paramount/Showtime. Absolutely horrible. Just mail it in. A prime example of the lack of creativity today. Insult boomers all you want but you kids keep remaking all our shit. Get your own ideas

Amazon has a new Bosch vehicle that he isn't in. Maggie Q as Ballard. She is hot but the show is also horrible. I would need to continue the review on the Tug

We are at a low point for let's reboot or do a very delayed unnecessary sequel of everything now. Every single person in the chain of content creation rightfully is worried that there are no more paydays left so they're doing absolutely anything they feel has a built in audience enough to justify making it.

My parents have been trying to get me to watch Bosch/Ballard, but I'm tapped out on all the formulaic shit just like everyone else. I have to be inspired in some way, even if it's just the shots and music, and yes it's nice to see a new character, new setup, etc.

For example, for all it's flaws, the music in Landman is really unique and hasn't been pulled off that perfectly since the first Starcraft II game over 15 years ago. The space cowboy themes as they're panning across high school football stadiums that are the size of Reser. It's just fucking awesome, even with some of the other flaws in the show.

The only thing that can save Resurrection is some flashback nude scenes with Julie Benz.

Ha I was going to tag Haie until I saw it already at the last second. My very basic/mainstream minded thought is if they simply forgot to put The Ring on there? Combination of a good movie that was also a massive phenomenon. The Strangers is a rare movie that actually scares me because it feels real and is super simple. Paranormal Activity became a meme but it was so influential and new it should be recognized. I might through in Final Destination as a borderline only ironically good movie but one that is like a fucking pixie stick.

I'm barely even Tug curious but strong on that Get Out is just a very ok formulaic movie with a third act that a high school English class would say needs to be completely scraped and Us is borderline unwatchable.

I've seen #s 14, 6, and 3. I haven't heard of most of them. I can't remember how I stumbled into Let the Right One In.

It's the problem with a lot of lists like this across movies, music, TV, is they skew hard to critical darlings that no one actually likes. This actually isn't that bad. I've seen about 75% and am somewhat familiar with all but a few.

Just thinking more about this list makes me want to go rewatch Hereditary right now. The way that the treehouse is its own character/mouth of hell just never gets old with the way he shot everything.

That's the level that these horror directors that make Talk To Me think they're on, which is what bothers me.

In Talk To Me the most shocking moments with the younger brother don't even compare to an entire rewatch of Hereditary where you see how the cult leader in Utah was just slowly but surely setting the family up.

Go watch Prisoners and then watch Jake Gyllenhaal and Wolverine in all their other films. It's on another level, those guys were on a level that they won't get back to the rest of their careers. The scene at the end with him in the house blows away the end scene in Silence of the Lambs. For me.

It's also worth noting that anything with her in it is guaranteed to be pretty good. Longlegs, It Follows, and Watcher were all really good. This isn't like shoving Sidney Sweeney into Immaculate so that you could see a nude scene with her even though she isn't really right for the role, this chick is made for A24 horror movies.

I didn't know where to put movies like Heretic, but they are worth watching.

Nobody talks about Cuckoo but it is the true spiritual successor to Twin Peaks. Alan Wake II and that movie are the only things to truly capture what he did in the early 90's.

I don’t watch horror flicks but I appreciate @haie’s passion for the genre.

Original Mission Impossible movie. Saw it in the theater when it came out. I think it’s other only MI I’ve seen but I plan to finish them out.
