so I want to elaborate on this. IMO the cupboards are bare and fishs method is to build with HS kids. Clearly he doesn’t know how or want to use the portal.
So he brings in all of these guys he’s beating lowly schools for and what do we have? Development players that will make an impact in 2-3 yrs, maybe 4. You have to have a handful of guys ready to come in and make a difference. I don’t see that happening with this class based on the pattern of the commits. Feels like two shit years in a row and that’s disappointing. I don’t know the conversations about NIL and paying players and shit but it feels like fish whiffed in the portal because he thought he was going to big dick it with HS kids. That’s not happening either.
incoherent babble over.
I hate to say this but UW is gonna have to wade through this season and keep their heads above water. This roster has the real potential to be really bad. If Fisch can manage them to a .500 record or better it’s a big win.
You can’t overstate enough the events that have worked against them. DeBoner leaving, the transfer exodus and most importantly sending a dozen+ draftees/camp invitees to the NFL. Filling in the roster will be huge, I trust Fisch to do the same thing here as he did @ Zona w/ better facilities and resources. He’s gonna get it done. The really scary thing is the 2 primary coordinators. Both Carroll and Bilichek scare the shit out of me. Both seem like complete flakes and not conducive to recruiting and relating to kids. Bilichek more so.
I think it's hard to draw too many conclusions in this first season given the roster genocide that took place after DeBoer left. I think Fisch did OK in the portal given the situation. I would think a reasonable expectation for his class ranking would be in the 30-40 range nationally and that should move higher once we have some success on the field. We're currently sitting at #56 with only one 4 star guy signed. I don't know shit about our NIL program but I gotta think we have enough cash to reel in at least a few solid 4 star players.
I think there is enough talent on the roster to be successful but it's going to take some incredible coaching and luck on the injury front. Starting offensive line should be serviceable but there's no depth behind the starters. Will Rogers, the wide receivers/TEs and running backs look slightly above average for the Big 10. If we stay healthy and get good QB play we could surprise some people on offense. Any injuries at basically any position and we're probably fucked… choose your own adventure.
The defense has more depth but is just as inexperienced as the offense. Sebastian Valdez, Bryce Butler and Jayvon Parker all look the part and move well for their size on the defensive line. Durfee, Tunuufi, and Jacob Lane are all good players at the edge and Bruener + Tuputala are solid at middle linebacker. Decent depth and quality in the secondary as well but pretty much everywhere on the defense is short on in-game experience.
There are 7 sure-as-shit wins on our schedule next year:
Weber State
Eastern Michigan
Cougs
Northwestern
Rutgers
Indiana
UCLA
2024 and 2025 will be "rebuilding" years for the program as much as that sucks to hear. I don't think Fisch will have his roster really in place until 2026 but you could make the argument that, with the transfer portal, 2 years is too long to wait to "have your guys in there."
I don't know how much of Fisch's success at AZ was him vs Fifita turning out the be one of the best young QBs in the country. This roster over-achieving next year would make me feel much better about the Fisch hire. For the record, I think he's a good coach and I like the staff he put together.
Comments
I’m not.
He's a Junior Olympian in taekwondo, so he should really understand leverage
He's also at the same HS as T'Andre Waverly who's a 4* TE. Wonder how that'll factor into his decision-making
Fish singin' in the rain again. We're up to 11 commits this weekend.
I’d be good with this.
all these crystal ballz to udub and Dijon Lee to AL

instead of being little faggots who just downvote shit why don’t you post a rebuttal with some substance.
I did. Tom Petty said it better than I could. You're tying yourself in knots over high school juniors in June because _______.
We got 11 commits this weekend. Chin up.

Do you really want the truth?
I would love to read a teq essay on the subject.
FUCK OFF, FAGGOT!
You’re the one with the obsession about cadavers, Tacoma Pussy Boy.
Your boy who murdered his girlfriend and was charged with Tampering with a Corpse actually burned her corpse.
Mr. FAFO immediately thought it was necrophilia.
Meet up me in ID. I’m old and feeble.
We do have firearms and backhoes and know how to use them, though.
Couple new Cristoballz on here.
