Shampoo (1975).
Warren Beatty as a hunky hairdresser who just bones a ton of women. Julie Christie. Goldie Hawn. Carrie Fisher. Lee Grant.
Art imitating life.
Never heard of the Von Erichs until they started dying. My interest in professional rasslin’ was watching Big Time Wrestling out of Portland on KCPQ and rasslin’ on WTBS with Gordon Solie in the late 70s early 80s. I had no concept of territories. And you would hear that Abdullah the Butcher or Andre the Giant was coming to town.
Decent movie. I like A24 movies quite a bit. Some of the story is left out like the other other Von Erich brother who killed himself.
Dumb Money. Decent enough movie that explains what happened with GME. While I didn’t make any money on it, I got in on the AMC run.
Apocalypse Now Redux. The added footage to me adds a little bit to the film. Mainly the Brando additional footage and a little bit of the Playboy bunny stuff. The French stuff could have been tossed.
The David Lynch version is pretty campy compared to this version. Like Flash Gordon campy. Loved it as a kid, but this new version is great. I am guessing it is much closer to the book as well.
Airport 1975. I was 3 when this movie came out and barely remember there being an Airport disaster movie. We started watching this and couldn’t turn it off.
A couple thoughts, Airplane! mocks the shit outta this movie. I lost count of how many characters and scenes were parodied by Airplane.
The amount of sexism and sexual harassment was incredible.
There were quite a few recognizable actors in the movie. I do t know how many were “stars” but they were people I recognized. Jerry Stiller, Norman Fell AKA Mr Roper from Three’s Company, the actress who played Large Marge in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Linda Blair from the exorcist.
Finally, the lead actress was Karen Black who is nearly cross eyed. I got dizzy just watching her in the opening scenes.
All 3 Airport movies are on Netflix. Highly recommended.
Fell asleep at the drive in when I was a kid, just never got around to watching it until this weekend. Totally worth it to see Adrienne Barbeau bouncing around and taking a bath in a swamp.
The Joy of Sex. 1984
How did I miss the teen sex comedy??? Not very good. Has Christopher Lloyd and Ernie Hudson. The main girl was Mudy from Revenge of the nerds. She looked great in this.
Ive enjoyed Swamp Thing many times over the years. I know I've seen (and probably deposited some of my best swimmers into a sock afterward) the other one too, but can't really remember anything about it.
I almost forgot about Swamp Thing. With the complete lack of creativity in Hollywood, I’m surprised it hasn’t been reimagined. It’s actually a good candidate for a remake as I feel like it was closer to a B movie than an A.

I seem to remember adolescent Chuck liking that one when it was new. I've never tried to watch it since it though.
Young Nacho also liked it. Probably because there was mild T&A and lots of women in bikinis.
Zone of Interest
Not much dialog as it is set at Auschwitz
Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare
Typical Guy Ritchie movie. Entertaining and Cavill is great

Lee Grant had been given a NBC sitcom and it was canceled quickly right before Shampoo came out and she got rave reviews
I actually have never seen it. Not a big Beatty guy other than Bugsy and Bonnie and Clyde
Watched him Heaven Can Wait last year. Nothing special.
One word sums up Warren Beatty: Ishtar
The Parallax View is a great Beatty film. Other than that, I am not the biggest fan.
The Iron Claw

Mrs Nacho had never seen The Matrix so that’s the last movie I watched.

Looking forward to watching The Poolman tonight.
Not a movie - but watched an episode of Tires with Shane Gillis on Netflix
awful. Just awful. Any and every thread on HH has better writing than that show.
