I would say Fish recruited above Arizonas traditional level. If he can do that at UW they should settle into the 15-20 range annually. Here is my DOOG, glass half full take. He has a seven year contract. If he wanted to win big now, he would spend what money UW has on the 2-3 players to make his team viable for 9-10 wins immediately. The DOOG hope is that he is playing the long game and saving the finances for his 2025 recruiting class. He has said multiple times, the best teams are built through the draft, not free agency. If UW doesn't close a huge chunk of the upcoming visits then he's failing. I'll reserve my judgement on his recruiting until after June.
That’s a good point. It definitely seems like more effort is going into 2025 recruiting than portal guys now. Although Fisch did say he expected a lot of new additions this spring. Thud
What actually matters is that he out-scouted everyone at a fucking 1 win piece of shit school and 2 seasons later he had the year he just had. That is literally the first second and third reason why everyone said he should be at USC or UCLA in the middle of the fucking 2023 season.
Agree that looking back Fisch and staff weren't quite as elite of recruiters as maybe it got sold when he was hired. Seems like a lot of his prowess is tied to that 2022 class when he managed to get the four Servite guys to come. Though, did that require taking Fifita, who I don't think other G5 schools wanted?
And he just had an OL drafted in the first round by the Packers didn't he?
His team last year almost passed the smell test better than UW's besides the actual game against UW, and maybe that they blew the 17 pt lead to USC. That's all that matters to me.
I'm still waiting for Willie Wonka's surprises from last weekend. All we got from that tweet was the Miami OL backup who has never played DT. Still reserving judgement till August.
Whoa hang on. I remember talking on the podcast two or three years ago with @JoeEDangerously and @WoolleyDoog and going "What the hell is going on in Arizona? Why are suddenly all these great recruits going to Tucson?"
I think the kids portalling around are looking for better housing situations after their first year or two of state funded college rent. Caleb Williams posting pics of his penthouse doesn’t lower any narcissistic capabilities of a 20 year old primadonna
I know the offensive linemen lived in a pretty decent looking condo or house owned by a booster or maybe a walk on's dad and they did like a UW Cribs thing there. Who knows though they might have paid rent. Didn't someone say Penix got a cool place on Lake Washington free from a booster as a rental? The rare Caleb Williams or Bear Alexander could command a sweet place like that but I remember even seeing a JTT Cribs thing and he lived in an extremely generic apartment.
I mean me personally now thinking about it there's a point that if I got a portal bag and I know I was going to be in some college town I could rent a badass place while in Seattle my best bet is probably a decent condo or something.
I’d turn my NIL provided living arrangement into a whore house and then let gator run it for me and make money off of something that was provided for free.

Oof
fish getting treated like tybo’s tinder matches.
Other than Tretoro McMillan committing for a huge bag, Fisch was not a good recruiter at Zona. Not sure why things would be different here.
Also, despite Kim's constant refrain of "UW will never lose a recruit due to money", UW is currently losing lots of recruits due to money.

your optimism makes my taint hurt though I’d be ok if you were right.
If we're bashing painful taints then I'm gone, just gone.

That was bad. Wasn't that one of the final death squeals of Roof when she posted about something being cataclysmic and it was a long snapper commit?
I'd do the same thing in her position for a good chuckle.
Don't scholarships cover housing costs?
Maybe it's time for UW to create dedicated athlete housing?

What would a 20-year old JoeEDangerously had demanded in NIL?
