I get calls wanting money for Oregon. I just laugh and tell them to call me when they dismantle their Bias Response Teams. Confuses the commie kids they pay to make the fund raising calls. "What Bias Response Teams?"
The irony is that athletic programs at public universities (and private) are the biggest examples of meritocracy and equality in the university system. Perform or no scholarship or no job.
In my first quarter at UW I took Geography 101. Figured we'd be looking at maps, terrain, etc. and might be interesting. Turns out it was basically a sociology class. Wrote what I thought was a pretty good term paper and ended up with a 2.1 grade for the quarter.
Oh I'll hear it, but so far all that's ever been said about DeBoer was that on a trip to rural Washington for an in-home, he assumed the recruit's dad was conservative and mentioned that he was glad to be 'out of liberal Seattle for the time being' or something to that effect.
As much as this needs to be said, and I very much salute the guy, the other thing is that he is very low risk person to do it. If he's been a prof since the late-70's, he's almost out.
I've been a big map nerd since I was six or seven. When I first transferred to UDumb, I thought about declaring geography as a major. Most of it was what we'd now call woke, sociological, third world stuff. I did end up taking a class taught by this Brit my first qtr. It was more conventional geographical trends. Got a 3.5 or thereabouts without even really trying that hard. It's too bad the SJW commies, even then, had tainted academia so much with their ideology.
Same here. I used to be very involved with the University. I would speak to business majors who would be in GEO 150 looking at the screen where 4-6 of us would be seen and take questions from the students filling the seats. Did that for about 10 years and then one year, the new people were in charge and they told me afterwards that they didn't think my portion went well and that I would not be asked again to participate. This was a question and answer session that was completely driven by the students, there was no political bent to it at all. They had gotten rid of the other 4-6 regulars prior to me and I was the last one to go. I was active with the alumni & foundation admins on campus so they clearly took care of me last. I was later told that they thought that my common sense and truthful answers to business majors of how to work in the business world was too out of touch. Imagine a campus liberal living in a campus cocoon telling a business person working in the real world that they were out of touch? That was the beginning of the end for me. It took about 3 more years for them to completely alienate people like me who were active in the University. I sluffed them off for good at that point and from my perspective it is every bit as bad as this article describes the U of W.
When my kids were in HS, Cliff got canceled by KUOW for advocating for traditional math versus the confusing bullshit "New Math" nobody could understand, or teach worth a shit.
Ultimately the district chose the traditional curriculum, but it was a dogfight against some really, really dumb people who just wanted to overturn anything in place that they'd already decided was "institutionally racist."
Including Algebra, as if they even know where it originated.
JFC. That's when I decided Seattle was fucking hopeless.

The guys on the football board don't want to hear it but I can see how this could effect a coach and or AD

It's a cliche but also true
Equity would require teams to be majority white
I too took Rock for Jocks.
.
Rocks for Jocks was Geology 101.
How am I expected to read correctly while racing down the 5 snorting blow of a hooker's ass.

Kick the hornets nest and LEAVE!
.
Meritocracy is not what DEI is after.
Very few Democrat non-binary minority transgenders on D1 scholarships….
But they’re working on it.
Thank you for enlightening us on the wetness of water. I don't know how this place would exist without your nuggets of wisdom.
Your welcome.

The reality is that this guy can go work at any of the other west coast Pac 12 schools and have this same issue, besides maybe SC or even Stanford.
The reality is he can’t go work anywhere else on the west coast at all. No one’s going to hire him.

Imagine asking white males for money
they don’t need no man!
Don’t be a crutch, just let them be strong and independent on their own
They'll use the State to force us.
