Is Petersen our Truman?

I.e., a leader with lower approval ratings from us after the 2018 and 2019 disappointment, but who will be judged more favorably in decades to come by Hardcore Historians (invite still stands @CarlinBuff )?
I still hate Pete for not wanting to nuke the North Koreans and Chinese in the 2019 Rose Bowl and for whatever his role was in the Jimmy Lake getting hired.
But some of that hate has faded over the past week of DeBoerGate.

They each fucked the program for different reasons
But 2023 will always be better than anything Pete did -
I still hate him for the 2018 & 2019 Cal & Oregon games.
He killed my inner doog.

Pete had his flaws, but he's the only genuine guy we've had as a coach since forever
That said, DeBoer is the better coach and won games that Pete would've lost (like ASU and OSU this year) -
If Pete's heart and soul wasn't into being a big-time CFB coach anymore, how would it have benefited UW for him to stick around after the 2019 season?
If anything, it was Cohen's fault for not doing a more aggressive search. Sure Lake was a natural candidate but he had never been a HC before and she should be judged by the results of his tenure (and lingering buyout). She also saddled UW with Hopkins. -
He could recruit, he was honest, and he was sincere.
I hate him less now but that’s only because I have so much haie in my heart to allocate and dedouche and TOF get the majority of it. -

But my DeBoer hate is burning much more intensely than my Pete hate, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
I require my Husky Football head coaches to be ALL IN, LFG during Natty runs. Anything less, is an unforgiveable sin. -
That said, Petersen is the better recruiter and brought in the talent that allowed DeBoer to win games like Oregon (thrice) and Texaswhatshouldicareabout said:Pete had his flaws, but he's the only genuine guy we've had as a coach since forever

Petersen appears to be trying to hang out in the background and bring some stability to the program. He did it for DeBoer and he's putting even more effort now with Fisch. Showed up to the natty, backs us on national TV in front of a bunch of SC/B1G homers, and in general has been a positive. He truly just doesn't want the grind anymore.
I will still never forgive him for the 2019 + Lake stuff, but I can't say that it isn't healthy for the program to have this kind of asset. Just sucks he never finished the job those 3 years. -
