College Playoffs suck

NFL >>> College Football. There - I said it.
It’s a fair. It’s honest. -
Not enough teams try to be good in college. In the pros at least half or more give a legit effort.

CFB fucked up, trying to copy the NFL model without the salary cap
-
The NFL OT rules are shit as fuck. They gotta clean that part up.

The nfl playoffs existed and were good prior to a salary cap. Some of us non millennials even saw the games.FireCohen said:CFB fucked up, trying to copy the NFL model without the salary cap

According to some, football did not start till 1995AtomicDawg said:

CFB used to be a more passionate game than the NFL. It's the other way around now.
Watching the same 3-5 CFB programs duke it out every year is just a total fail. -
Back in the 80s and 90s you had multiple programs with a legit chance for an NC within a 2-4 year cycle, now the CFP/TV-contract era has whittled it down to just a handful who dominate for a 6-10 year cycle?

I hate you all

The nfl product is pretty fucking amazing at this point. The last 2 weekends were some really great footballKingdome_Urinals said:CFB used to be a more passionate game than the NFL. It's the other way around now.

Football is something else when everyone is playing their guts out. I don't give a shit about any nfl teams, but today I thought and cared. I didn't really care who won but I got excited anyways. Those were some good games.

The NFL OT rules are designed like they are because of TV rights. It’s going to be extremely difficult to change the OT rules in the regular season, but during the playoffs, I think there should be much more flexibility.YellowSnow said:The NFL OT rules are shit as fuck. I used exude an attitude of cultural superiority/snobbery to NFL (first) fans. Years on a gay ass, Blue Friday, when everyone would wear a Hawks jersey to work, I had on the UW purple and gold rep tie.Kingdome_Urinals said:CFB used to be a more passionate game than the NFL. But I just don't have it anymore. The pride has been beaten out of me. -
The Bengals didn't cry about the OT rules. They won anyway

College football used to be set apart from the NFL. More passion and tradition. More fun. Especially away games. Now everything that made it different has been tossed.

I'm sure they would have, had the Chiefs scored a TD. It's stupid to bash it. Everyone except for Donovan McNabb understands the OT rules, so in that sense, it's a level playing field.RaceBannon said:The Bengals didn't cry about the OT rules. They won anyway

The NFL just had the best ever playoffs and 2nd place isnt close. This is recency bias
College football regular season is still far superior. The Playoffs suck donkey cock though. Need to have at minimum an 8 team playoff -

I’ve always enjoyed watching the best players in the world play.
The NFL used to be a little too conservative and every offense was the same. That isn’t the case anymore. Teams go for it on 4th down on the wrong side of the 50. I mean, we root for a team that once punted on 4th and 1 at the Oregon 39 yard line.
The Chargers probably didn’t make the playoffs because they were too aggressive going for it on 4th down. -
Yes, regular season of college football is still supreme. But it's not recency bias when it comes to the playoffs -- NFL has been better than college since the first couple years the colleges instituted them. They either need to open the floodgates with a true tournament and scrap the bowls altogether or they need to go back to the way things were in olden times. Maybe have the top 2 play off for the national title after the bowls ... but right now, the college football postseason is a joke.PostGameOrangeSlices said:The NFL just had the best ever playoffs and 2nd place isnt close. The Chargers didn't make the play off because I'm not allowed to have nice things.RoadDawg55 said:I’ve always enjoyed watching the best players in the world play.

I attended many a San Diego Chargers loss in a half empty Jack Murphy stadium in the 80s. Then I realized in 1990 I could start liking UW because my dad was an alumni and this college football thing was way more fun.
Now I'm back to square one with a big dick Duck QB and no Super Bowl prospects. -
I'm calling it now. Chargers in Super Bowl 2023. The salary cap is gonna hit most of the other good teams in the AFC, except Cincinnati -- but I don't see the Bengals going back-to-back. It's kind of a miracle they made it this year. Chargers have a lot of room to make some moves to help the duck. (Shore up that D-line against the rush maybe?)YellowSnow said:

If the chargers fix their run defense I agree, I think they can make a deep playoff run.TheHB said:

But disagree with the bengals, should have all of the WRs back and Joey B, if they can get a couple decent olinemen they should be just as good if not better, but that’s a lot easier said than done

We are about to watch a Bengals vs. Rams Super Bowl. That's roughly equivalent to a Purdue vs. Cal National Championship. How likely is that? CFB is broken. Completely.Kingdome_Urinals said:CFB used to be a more passionate game than the NFL. It's the other way around now.

I'd call it more like Purdue vs. Utah (Rams are a good team), but your point stands.Swaye said:

Rodgers won a SB then started losing conference title games
Wilson won a SB then lost one then years of playoff loses
Mahomes with 2 SB and 1 win with 4 straight conference title games is about as good as it gets for QBs not named Brady
McVey is at his second SB with his second QB. The Gibbs method
Burrow and the Bengals need to take advantage. This shit is fleeting -
Big reason Brady won because he took a pay cut to keep the gravy train runningRaceBannon said:Rodgers won a SB then started losing conference title games

Started watching Man in the Arena (yeah I'm bored shitless). I have always hated Brady -- well, maybe for 75% of his career. But watching that documentary, it's pretty clear why he's the GOAT.FireCohen said:

(I still fucking hate the Patriots. Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel can DIAFF.)
