Inoke Breckterfield named DL Coach

I like the Wisconsin experience. He was able to pull some dudes from all over the country there.
-
He better get to work because our dline is god awful
-
Whomever the strength coach is going to be they have a ton of work to do with both lines. Too much bad weight. There is a reason this team wilted in fourth quarters and it’s not all on the inept offense. I still think Socha is a good coach. He does what he’s instructed to do by the HC. Boner can’t want the lines to look the way they do. Spring and fall weights will be interesting this year.PasadenaHuskyFan said:He better get to work because our dline is god awful

Can he get Herbig to portal to UW?DoogerMcFarland said:I like the Wisconsin experience. He was able to pull some dudes from all over the country there.

Apparently he coached up Aaron Donald at Pitt.
-
Bollers and Herbig were guys uw was trying to land. I don’t hate this hire. As long as he is hungry to prove himself.
-
Yup I would love to portal in Bollers

He can coach and recruit. Fills the need for a Poly on the staff with Hawaiian connections. Not sure if he has any connections in Utah which is important and could be a big loss if we don't fill that hole.
I really like this hire. Probably the best one on the new staff. -
Given the rest of the defensive staff is coming up from Fresno, I'm sure there are connections in Utah. Maybe not as strong as we had recently, but it's probably going to create some stability and credibility here while Inoke gets established out westdnc said:He can coach and recruit. The last 3 guys we wanted from Utah told us to get lost. Fillinger and Carlton went to Utah and Roberts to Oregon. Malloe was slipping.whatshouldicareabout said:

He needs to get on the phone with the coach of East HS right awaydnc said:He can coach and recruit. Fills the need for a Poly on the staff with Hawaiian connections. Not sure if he has any connections in Utah which is important and could be a big loss if we don't fill that hole.

Inge coached Khalil Mack at Buffalo. I like Inge. He seems cools. I’m going to chose to not hate him until I absolutely have to

This article describes him as a “secondary recruiter with a developmental focus.” Deboner seems to want to have an emphasis on crooting, but are any of these new coaches actually good at that?

I'd honestly be more interested in his time at Wisconsin. Seems like he was a decent recruiter there, and maybe wants more of an active role in that capacity.Pizzadog said:This article describes him as a “secondary recruiter with a developmental focus.” Deboner seems to want to have an emphasis on crooting, but are any of these new coaches actually good at that?

It sounds like he chose to leave Wisconsin. I found this excerpt on their SB Nation site from an article about him departing for Vandy:
At Wisconsin, Breckterfield has been a mainstay on the defensive staff and recruiting trail for the Badgers. He has helped mold the defensive line into one of the top, albeit unheralded, units in the Big Ten. The Badgers have allowed an average of just 16.5 points per game since Breckterfield joined the coaching staff, ranking No. 3 nationally over those five years. UW ranks No. 3 in yards allowed during that span, as well, giving up just 292.3 total yards per contest, and stands third in both rushing defense (109.0 ypg) and pass efficiency defense (106.6) over the course of those seasons. This year the defense was just as good, only giving up 96.1 rushing yards per game.
They called Wisconsin "UW". Not me. Don't twist. -
I like it. Former beav. Knows the west coast. If he’s a good coach he’ll get guys in recruiting too

Kinda left scratching my head. huskies are excited because the new DL coach coached Mack and Darnold, but didn't uw have a coach that coached Vea, Qualls, Gains, Shelton, and ZTF?! And the new coach is from the Islands, which could help with the poly players, but so was the last guy, and that didn’t seem to help. Seems like the same just different name. Guess coming from Vanderbilt is better than ‘an assistant to the running back coach’…maybe.
-
Quite the selective data points you skimmed over there. You're a shit poster, so I won't bother responding to them, but Inoke > Malloe by just about any metric. By far the biggest staff upgrade besides HC itself.dOgmaster said:Kinda left scratching my head. huskies are excited because the new DL coach coached Mack and Darnold, but didn't uw have a coach that coached Vea, Qualls, Gains, Shelton, and ZTF?! Malloe was always a sub par coach given a pass because he’s a nice guy
-
Excellent hire for a position group that has underperformed from 2019-2021. Time to get to work.
-
No sizzle in the hires.
Offseason natty looked to be in reach a couple of weeks ago and now we see that *we were never in the game.
BTP fed *us his usual optimistic reading of the tea leaves. While nobody takes those posts at face value, I got my hopes up.
I didn't want any UW coaches retained. The stain of losing is on them now.
I wanted DeBoer as coach before any of us thought we'd be rid of Jimmy so soon. I'd be a coward to back off of that just because I'm unimpressed with his staff hires. Again, the head coach is way, way more important than the position coaches and coordinators. If they're mediocre the team will still be good but the
Malloe wasn't a DL. Malloe had two good recruiting classes and a couple where he got nobody or essentially nobody. Malloe was on the defensive staff that just gave up 300 rushing yards to every team who had a pulse.dOgmaster said:Kinda left scratching my head. huskies are excited because the new DL coach coached Mack and Darnold, but didn't uw have a coach that coached Vea, Qualls, Gains, Shelton, and ZTF?! This was a significant upgrade. Nobody from a staff that let a whole team go soft should have been retained. *We have to live with Adams and Huff, but I'm glad it's only two of them.
Now Socha needs to be replaced too, and I'll be content to LIPO. -
Darnold went to USC and is a QB.dOgmaster said:Kinda left scratching my head. huskies are excited because the new DL coach coached Mack and Darnold, but didn't uw have a coach that coached Vea, Qualls, Gains, Shelton, and ZTF?! K, Adams, and Huff wanted out after 2020.
Maybe it's a stain that huff and Adams couldn't/wouldn't get another job as good as Washington, but it shows they knew the pilot was doing shots with the stewardess mid flight.
Bone daWg retained the 2 best recruiters from the previous staff. We haven't seen the OL recruits in action, and the Adams blue chip group essentially was the offense trying to salvage a shit scheme with shit route trees. I have problems with McMillan but he still showed a lot of talent. -
The head man dictates whether or not position coaches and coordinators are worth a shit anyways, at least according to me in the recent past. My doog smile is turning to plaster and I'm not going to complain or worry about a thing as it relates to UW until next year.
-
An OSU all-time great. If he coaches half as hard as he played you’ll be happy.
-
What part of "doog smile turning to plaster" is lost on you.MikeDamone said:The head man dictates whether or not position coaches and coordinators are worth a shit anyways, at least according to me in the recent past. The point, though not that clear, is that I give up. I was mocking myself for it.
edit...but all said and done I do think the DL coach was a pretty good hire. Who the fuck knows though? If Deboer is worth a shit then they'll all be fine, just not as good as I expected given the money I thought the AD had available.
