DeBoner > Campbell

No he didn’t. Recruiting got worse once Pete got away from what he was amazing at. He was better at evaluating and developing than just about anyone and got worse with the four star bums.sonics1993 said:
He has absolutely no idea what it takes to be good at recruiting. Even Pete struggled his first couple of years at recruiting, and he was known nationally. Until you have gone through recruiting against USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, you don't know the challenges it presents and what it takes to win those battles.chuck said:
I don't buy this. He's going to know how important recruiting is. He's a successful, hard working coach who has done what he needed to do to kick ass at every job he has had. It's stupid, in my opinion, to assume he's going to struggle in recruiting. Name means jack shit. It's all about who identifies the right guys, works the hardest, and sells the best.sonics1993 said:Kalen will absolutely get smoked on the recruiting trail. Washington desperately needs a big name to compete with Mario and Lincoln.
DeBoer will recruit fine.
We can worry about beating the blue bloods when the time comes. Right now, we need success on the field and to get interest and a boost from recruiting that way. DeBoer can hire great recruiters as his assistants. The guy has won. It’s a gamble, but let’s wait to see how he does recruiting. He has some pretty good offenses to show to recruits on that side and historically we have had a good defense. -
So it's Justin Wilcox then

I’m also DeBoer > Campbell. Admittedly it’s just a gut feeling and I’ve been in a slump with predictions, but still.

The anti-DeBoer takes that talk about recruiting are going to give me a fucking aneurysm. All of them are Kim circa 2014 talking about Petersen levels of stupidity.BleachedAnusDawg said:People said Petersen would struggle to recruit.
...the team being DOA for so long made me forget what raging about UW actually felt like. lol

He did but that was a .500 Oregon team that lost to the Beav.backthepack said:Campbell popped off and won an ny6 at one of the worst spots in cfb

In terms of an arms race with sc deboner doesn’t move the needle now that Riley is in place.

deboner

It’s so deboner
-
Of course not but nobody that Jen and co are willing to pay would get us even close to a half chubb at this point unless stoops was pissed at Riley for leaving Oklahoma and decided to reconsider and come here to beat the piss out of him.Kingdome_Urinals said:In terms of an arms race with sc deboner doesn’t move the needle now that Riley is in place.

Pretty sure I came up with that name.Swaye said:
I've been ride or die with DeBoner since the start. Hell, I was the first douchecanoe here to name him DeBoner.BleachedAnusDawg said:I am team Deboner. Bring in Tedford and score 40 a game next year.

Huh? He knows Tedford, who's been coaching on the west coast since 1992. Pretty sure he could lean on him to put together a solid staff. DeBoer hasn't even been hired, yet you're reserving judgment on his hypothetical staff that he hasn't even put together. Pump the brakes.sonics1993 said:
The issue is that he doesn't know anyone, and most of the time, Mountain West coaches want to bring in their previous staff. Look at his staff right now; most of those guys have been following him since his NAIA days.OreDawg said:If we had the money to hire Campbell, doesn’t that mean we now have money to hire a kick ass staff? It seems that it would be pretty easy to hire some known recruiters. Personally I think a Deboer is going to win a shit of games. LIPO

I like deboer it’s just different with Riley at sc.
He has to coach the fuck out of uw in order to keep up. -

Pissed about the WSU hire. Also laughing that UW can’t get big time proven winnerBob_C said:

Yes, that Oregon team was middle of the road in the conference by both W/L and eye test. Lost to Cal. Lost to Beavs. Played Stanford with their backup QB in. Defaulted into the title game and beat Helton. Campbell gets full credit for popping off in a NY6 but that Oregon team was a complete nothingburger.RoadDawg55 said:

This is what the last decade of opportunity (USC sucking) to regularly compete for conference titles closing looks like.

IMO this is a good thing. They’re hungry and are proven winners. Winners win…period.sonics1993 said:

I personally would love to have this new kid on the block running the program. I like Campbell, but I actually feel better with bringing the boner and his NAIA staffin.

Feels like this worked out pretty well from my perspective.
LIPO obviously. But I wouldn’t be to thrilled if we were replacing MC with the guy from Fresno and I’m not exactly the biggest Cristobal fan. -
It's LIPO for sure, but he's been winner everywhere and schemed circles around Meat.MikeSeaver said:Feels like this worked out pretty well from my perspective.

Most coaches like DeBoer would have been content with being NAIA legends. He left to take some shitty OC jobs and built himself to the level that he could get a job like UW.vadawg said:

It was all earned. No good ol boy system, just a guy that worked and had steady progress. He does seem like a driven guy that chases and achieves success. -
He didn’t win anything at Fresno as a head coach. They won before he became head coach though.haie said:

Can only imagine what you’d be up to on the refuge if MC left and we hired the Fresno State coach.
Anyway, not here to party. Just to say I was mildly concerned you all might be able to pull something off. This is probably best case scenario from UO perspective. (Other than Wilcox)
Take all the screen shots you need. -

They played whOregon pretty well in Ewegene and beat Bruin in Pasadena, and UCLA isn't bad this year. I'd prefer a Stoops, but it's not a bad hire on the surface if the rumors are true. Maybe I'm naive and want to cling to hope. His floor is probably above the disaster Fake was (not saying a lot, I know).

I guess that was all you needed to see.fouchpotato said:

It wouldn't be any different if Oregon made this hire. Other than they would probably cut bait faster if it didn't work out.MikeSeaver said:
