I feel like a program like ISU/WSU/OSU is perfect for him, but he is not really high on my list. If we hired him it could have been worse but would be pretty meh to me.

Well jimmy said he did have the goal of winning the conference, but he didn’t do anything to work towards it. Actions over words. Campbell delivers and would likely deliver here. Plus he made Mario his bitch not even a year ago.

It's coach speak...under-promise, over-produce. Anyone talking wins / championships / nattys to the press is foolish (Jimmy), unless their names are Saban, Smart, Day, Dabo, and those guys don't ever do it, because it is stupid. What they say behind closed doors is totally different, for a reason.
Coaches live and work in a world of "controllables"... While everyone else in focused on winning (uncontrollable), good coaches focus on process, execution, improvement, and where they are TODAY. Did you win the play? Do it enough times, check the scoreboard when it's over, 24 hour rule, and on to the next. You don't have to be the best team in the nation / state / league today, the goal is to be the best team on the FIELD, today.
Coaches know you can play well and lose, and play like shit and win. They don't often (if ever) admit it publicly, but it is reality.

At ISU Campbell is meh. BUT its Iowa STATE!
I'd take Aranda and let USC have Campbell and see what happens

If Fickell turns down USC, Aranda is their guy. Franklin probably calls Jen and says he'll take a discount if the rumors of him wanting out badly at PSU are true. I'm not sure how I feel about Franklin.
Let's not pretend Campbell wouldn't be a high profile big dick hire here. We can poke holes in his resume but I would doog like hell if we hired him. Every vacant program has tried to poach this guy.
edit: Ok that OP video was pretty damn weird and gives me PTSD from 2000s UW AD press conferences. -

Why don’t people like Campbell exactly?
-Was youngest head coach in FBS when took over Toledo. Still only 41.
-Dominated peers in the MAC and scored multiple OOC upsets.
-First conference title game appearance in Iowa State history. They’ve never won Big 8/12.
-First major bowl win in ISU history. Johnny Majors and Earle Bruce never won there.
-Only took two years to turn around the program (remember Stoops year 2?)
-Consistently in top third of conference since year 2 despite lack of resources or any history or tradition.
-Coach of the year in his conference four out of nine years (awards are stupid but still) -
Franklin is Pete. Adult in charge 9 or 10 wins most years. Hasn't got over the hump at Penn State and might not here. Campbell is a above average but not porn star size dick hire. The whole does more with less thing does not always mean will do more with more. Often it doesn't
Could be a reason he is happy at Iowa State where 6-4 is every goal he had for the squad -
