I don't recall Mike Lude ever having an on-the-job mentor in the departmentkanehall said:
And herein lies the biggest #1 problem at UW. Pete is in an advisory position because Jen Cohen is ineffective at her job.FireCohen said:

I don't recall Mike Lude ever using the word "holistic" in a sentence -
There's also more competition, more scrutiny, and an AD currently in chaos.TXDawg said:

USC has its issues. UW has its issues. The point is neither city itself is a differentiator from the other. -
There's a lot of sources out there hinting that Bob's wife loves the Seattle area, plus she has family up in the San Juans. As for other jobs not fitting the mold - Bob wants a program where he can craft it in his own vision without any interference from nosy boosters (so USC is out), and he has too much respect for OU to even think about coaching in the SEC/Big 12 footprint (that plus every other reason eliminates Texas).HairyBallsDawg said:Which fucking stoops are people talking about here? If it's Bob...
Why would Bob Stoops come to Washington? This seems like a huge woosh.
If he wanted to coach again he could go to a bigger name like USC or Texas or one of a half dozen openings that will be available this season.
He'd probably hate Seattle more than Petersen does.
So combine all of that with his lesser known love of crabbing (he's particularly fond of Dungeness), and word is that Bob is very much interested in coming here and laying down his roots, perhaps even finding his "forever home". Somewhere he can dock his boat the 'Sooner Schooner' would be a plus. -
The Pac-12 is so weak and watered down, he could rule with an iron fist with 10-3 records.GreenRiverGatorz said:

One thing UW has going for it, from the perspective of a semi-retired veteran coach type, is the lower expectations.
If he went to LSU, for instance, the pressure and recruiting shenanigans would be overwhelming.
At UW and the Pac 12, not so much. If he wins 10 games against a bunch of nobodies he will be a hero.
Not a bad way to make money. -
Sometimes people do something they hate for reasons that others aren't aware of.backthepack said:

He probably hates Seattle but likes riding to work on his boat. -

Is this directly a result of the bullshit on this site or is this even a remote possibility? I thought this was Steve Spurrier type inside joke. Part of me sort of hopes it is but no one on the Seattle Times editorial staff understands that. -

The reality is probably somewhere in between and Cohen lowballs Stoops to the point where we're forced to hire a Wilcox type on the low
