Maybe. Those jobs are competitive though. I don’t think he is at the top of any of those schools lists though. Iowa state is good but not great.

A coach that competent would probably dominate the pac12 right now with usc recruiting though.
Oregon’s roster will be massively upgraded next season and levels up again 2023. Mario is king right now. UW is going to bleed more talent and will have some bad holes on the roster.

Would take Deon in a second. Dude could get into every living room in the country.

His pre- and post game talks are epic.

Walks the talk. Second greatest athlete of my lifetim. Not some N Spokane poser.

He’ll be the next FSU coach

    UW was paying Pete $5M+

Top end of CFB not in the Saban or Jimbo range is in the $7-8M range

There are more than enough big swinging ducks at UW to get to that range with commitment

You don’t create a NIL shell entity to hire mediocre coaches

Like I’ve said elsewhere … aim high

True but this is before some the inflated tv contracts were agreed to. Big 10 and SEC coaches are king. Other jobs outside there are a different lower income bracket in most cases. I fear that’s how our ADept views us.

Sark struggled at UW USC and well Texas too but he's learned a lot and is ready now
You can’t expect to win at those bottom feeder schools

Ffs Troy Taylor was run out as the OC at Utah and you want to consider him at Uw? His scheme and qb nearly killed Britain covey and scored a total of 1 TD in 2 games on us that year before he was told to LEAVE!
Okay, cherry-pick the example that doesn't make sense to you. I'm throwing it out there. Being a first-time OC for Whittingham is much different than being a HC. You know that. Taylor is doing very well at Sac State. Not saying he's my top choice by any means, but I wouldn't use his Utah first-time OC experience and Britain Covey's deaths as barometers for his HC abilities.

Well, this was all theoretical. Can’t believe Lake has survived.

It’s not cherry picking that is a list for Arizona or WSU. This is not the time for your low expectations bullshit.
The post was framed around being realistic you dipshit. Not sure what your pie in the sky expectations are. Cristobal himself was a no-name hire that was trash as an HC previously. The only way we get a household name HC at UW is MAYBE if Petersen becomes AD or something. Please list your candidates so I can laugh them off the face of the earth.

Some people aren’t seeing the landscape well. We got Taggart after losing Rhule to Baylor.

There it is. The first “but who could we get that is better?” take.

I knew you could do it.
I'll wait for your inspiring and insightful suggestions. I'll probably die of starvation before that happens.

Likely. But a two year stopover in Seattle would do volumes to flush this program of its soft victim mentality culture.

He can still coach a defense. Hopefully he makes some better moves in hiring and adds more to the S&C program. Oregon punked UW in the trenches and on paper those recruits were better.
