I don't own guns or hunt and do find it distasteful, but looking at the bigger picture the benefits outweigh that.

No. I read another one positing how putting them on the endangered species list early, when they are really just threatened, could assist in using more laws against poachers (jail time, etc). As an aside, there is not one legit hunter I know who wouldn't run over poachers if given the chance. Poachers fucking suck, for everyone - PETA, hunters, game management officials, etc. Fuck them. -
