How do we unite as a country?

This may trigger guffaws given that it's coming from the owner/manager of Hardcore Husky and The Tug Tavern.

But seriously, I don't see any healthy discourse going on anywhere. I see few attempts to find solutions.

It takes both sides having some good faith and trust to make this happen.

But I certainly don't trust the Democrat party. The Democrats don't trust the conservatives or GOP.

It is clear that Biden is going to fan the flames and make relations worse and the country more divided.

But off the top of my head, I see three things that need to take place to prevent this nation spiraling into eventual civil war.

1. The mainstream media needs to rot away, and a new media rooted in integrity needs to come to the fore.
2. Decent, moderate liberals, aka "classic liberals", need to take back their party from Antifa/BLM/Marxists.
3. Conservatives need to keep their resentment in check, or in time they're going to become just like the people they hate/distrust

Right now I'm not confident in any of the three happening.

I read that article and nothing about bi-partisanship really stood out. It's more like the Dems saying "let's take what worked well in the states we successfully cheated in, and make that the federal standard."

Anyone wonder why voting went so smoothly in all states EXCEPT the battleground states that Trump HAD to win? Stops in counting, counting overnight, counting later, cardboard put up over windows, watchers kicked out, blah blah. Only in the battleground states.

And make no mistake, the Jan 6 event was not a happy coincidence for the Democrats - that protest, the subsequent riot, and the manufactured outrage was game-planned out long before it happened.

1) One of the biggest challenges in politics is bills that have a certain topic manner but then tons of pork built in that are trying get things that would never get approved otherwise ... the devil is always in the details

2) The issues/challenges in the 2020 election were exasperated in many states due to COVID

The reality is that leadership on both sides need to focus on getting shit done vs political posturing points to leverage in the game of gotcha at a future date

The political left and right have been waging this war for decades and they do it to stay in power. They make it left versus right so we can remain a two party system and they retain power as a result.

We need to be issue based and not party based in our decision making and when it comes to voting.

The media also promotes the minority views as being the majority for ratings purposes. They feast off the extremist actions and put them in the spotlight. As a result, the uneducated and the foreigner often buy into the notion that the extremists are the norm. The average everyday American knows this isn’t true but the average person isn’t running around causing chaos , they are at work or raising a family or doing normal everyday things

I would argue that we are more united today than we have been in decades. Despite all the obstacles and the media promoting fear and division for ratings we still are moving forward.
