I’m going to try and breakdown my perspective.

    - I believe social media sites need to be allowed to have a tos

    - I believe article 230 must remain

    - I don’t see any ending to the Trumper led criticism that isn’t government oversight. It’s always hyper focused on the bans. It’s never “break up big tech”, it’s “we must protect free speech”.

    - I have heard, for over a decade, about how government sucks, business is the best, builders want to build good buildings, let the market decide and now, all of the sudden, let’s push super hard for government regulation?

    - I think libertarians are being used. I think Trumpers know this will result in the government stepping in and they want that. So if the pendulum swings back, they have that power.

    - We’re dealing with fascism. It’s going to be incredibly difficult to get through this. Many difficult decisions will be made and some of them will be hard to swallow. I try to always keep the Patriot Act in the back of my mind but I also think this threat is more dangerous than terrorism ever was. Freedom is difficult to balance, I hope we can avoid the same mistakes we’ve made before but I don’t know how it’s going to go.
Big brother tech is monopolistic and they're using their enormous power to kill competition like Parlor as well as stifle "wrong think." Hth

If the bans had any shred of fairness and if Twatter and big tech weren't illegally destroying competition, great

I think he makes an interesting point. All else being equal, I'd expect the people in this forum would agree that private companies can do what they want w/ in the law, and the first amendment doesn't apply to their platform. The issue is their breadth and scope of influence over the whole system.

So I think he's right ... break them up; don't tell them they have to let Trump or anybody else on their platform. Make sure there is ample competition and that they don't get so big that they in effect run the entire system.

I’m on whatever side that goes against the government

in reality 99% of the people in this world don’t act out on their views. So even if they do have anarchist views they don’t raid the capital. Even if many think the police are pigs they don’t riot during BLM protest.

we are not as divided as the media portrays.

The extremists on both sides are just using the average persons frustration with the system as a means to commit acts of violence. The media takes these radical acts and portrays them on all of society. they do this for ratings and unfortunately all the idiots and foreigners watch this shit and believe its a true representation of how people act in our great country

Honestly I wonder if everybody isn't in bed with them. They have more money than the fucking the government can print. Who is going to tell them to fuck off and mean it. We may have let them become too big.

If only there was some group of politicians that didn’t take corporate money and wanted to get money out of politics.

He’s got a point. Both sides want to burn the entire thing to the ground. Only difference is one side gets to act on it (online and in public) without the media losing their damn minds.

Edit: I’m not saying I want to burn anything down, just that I can see it on the fringes of both sides.

Those who raided consist of a minute part of the population just like those who committed violence during BLM protests are a but a fraction of those who protested peacefully.

Those radicals are not even remotely close to an accurate representation of normal everyday Americans. They are the extremists and don’t represent how the vast majority of Americans act.

If you believe they do represent how we act then i assume you believe most Muslims are terrorists and most minorities in poor areas are criminals.
