Strong words. I believe I understand your perspective. I agree to some extent. People who caused damage or broke laws should be arrested and prosecuted. Being there, however, in and of itself is not a crime. Being a conservative does not mean you're an insurrectionist or even cheered these people on. On top of that, "Incited" is a gray area for me...

Just so I can understand if your perspective on this is consistent, could you answer this?

What about the people responsible for 19+ deaths and over a billion dollars in property damage during the months of protests for George Floyd? What about the media who provided their support? What about the politicians who supported it? What's your stance on them? I'm talking rioters causing damage, people burning shit down, looters, etc. Antifa, BLM, whatever. People breaking the law.

    What's your stance?

The right to protest, like the right to bear arms, is a fundamental part of our freedom. With both of these rights comes violence. You can’t have guns without gun violence and you can’t have protests without riots and looting.

You can paint a pretty picture of gun safety and responsible owners and peaceful sit ins but that’s not reality. Our sports teams can’t win championships without 57 people getting arrested.

Sometimes this violence becomes too much for some Americans to stomach. School shootings are a good example. It reached a point where many Americans struggled to accept that cost.

If the BLM protests reached that point for you, you are free to have that opinion. If it crossed a line for you and you felt something should have been done to stop it, the same way people feel like something needs to be done about school shootings, I get that. But it didn’t reach that point for me.

I don’t see what happened on January 6th even in the same universe as the BLM protests. You can put all the BLM damage numbers in a nice little box, the countless day, the dozens of cities, and total it all up to make it look really bad. It was still a protest.

January 6th was not a protest. You don’t just show up to a protest and accidentally end up in the halls of congress with a bunch of zip ties. “Whoops, how’d I get here?”

Democracy is my number one issue. I know you guys won’t like to hear that. The commie that supports Biden can’t love democracy but it’s true. I would choose capitalism with democracy over authoritarian socialism/communism. This was an attack on democracy. It was driven by lies about election fraud and it was intended to overturn a fair election. That is not the same as the violence that came with protesting for black lives.
I can respect this. However this sure isn't how you come across 95% of the tim.

Inherent to Democracy is my number one issue - Liberty.

"He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself." - Thomas Paine

I get thinking Trump is a low life piece of shit, but how you can stand around and allow the abject silencing - by corporate oligarchs no less - of a fellow citizen is beyond me. Not only hypocritical, it's antithetical to the Democracy you hold dear.
I’m going to try and breakdown my perspective.

    - I believe social media sites need to be allowed to have a tos

    - I believe article 230 must remain

    - I don’t see any ending to the Trumper led criticism that isn’t government oversight. It’s always hyper focused on the bans. It’s never “break up big tech”, it’s “we must protect free speech”.

    - I have heard, for over a decade, about how government sucks, business is the best, builders want to build good buildings, let the market decide and now, all of the sudden, let’s push super hard for government regulation?

    - I think libertarians are being used. I think Trumpers know this will result in the government stepping in and they want that. So if the pendulum swings back, they have that power.

    - We’re dealing with fascism. It’s going to be incredibly difficult to get through this. Many difficult decisions will be made and some of them will be hard to swallow. I try to always keep the Patriot Act in the back of my mind but I also think this threat is more dangerous than terrorism ever was. Freedom is difficult to balance, I hope we can avoid the same mistakes we’ve made before but I don’t know how it’s going to go.
Your side is completely willing to throw away all freedom so that they dont hear mean things on the tv.
With Trump bitching out and calling to end violence today, the culture war is going to be the only war you’re soldiers in. Hopefully you can save Christmas.
The 20-something malcontent who needs daddy government to take care of him talking about a political “culture war”....

    Adorable.
Age card. The mark of a weak argument. Figures it was the chunt that played it. Little bitch card, little bitch player.

It was still a protest.

in reality 99% of the people in this world don’t act out on their views. So even if they do have anarchist views they don’t raid the capital. Even if many think the police are pigs they don’t riot during BLM protest.

we are not as divided as the media portrays.

He’s got a point. Both sides want to burn the entire thing to the ground. Only difference is one side gets to act on it (online and in public) without the media losing their damn minds.

Edit: I’m not saying I want to burn anything down, just that I can see it on the fringes of both sides.

Those who raided consist of a minute part of the population just like those who committed violence during BLM protests are a but a fraction of those who protested peacefully.

Those radicals are not even remotely close to an accurate representation of normal everyday Americans. They are the extremists and don’t represent how the vast majority of Americans act.

If you believe they do represent how we act then i assume you believe most Muslims are terrorists and most minorities in poor areas are criminals.
