Running Tally of Jimmy Lake Overpromising and Underdelivering

Please add. His bravado is already wearing thin.
1) That UW is going to close on the high quality 2021 in-state recruits and outperform Oregon (at Oregon MBB halftime - all down hill from here)
2) John Donovan going to install an “attacking” and “aggressive” offense
3) Have the “highest attendance” of any Spring Game in the country. Was never going to happen even without covid.
4) Comments (multiple times) that the school who manages the virus best will be holding the Pac 12 championship trophy. (He might actually be right on this one)

You guys are really fucking pathetic sometimes.
Im sorry, but when I have to be the person around here spreading the Holiday cheer, you know this place is fucking gloomy.
It was an abortion of a season, entirely new everything, and the team went 3-1 and showed some mental toughness when down for the first time in forever. You can argue they shouldnt have been down big and be right, but they showed some heart. The offense was better than most expected when it started getting into a rhythm.
Recruiting sucked, he needs to do better next year. The vid sucks even more.
But seriously, lighten the fuck up, drink, fuck the boyfriend, whatever. Jesus.
Tar and feather the coaching staff if next year the team sucks, but right now Jimmy is batting 75% and it is what it is. Fuck 2020 and fuck everyone here.

-That the "aggressive" and "attack mode" attitude will be reflected in everything they do in the program. Training, practice, recruiting, style of play etc
-Lake about the 2020 class - "The recruiting sites ranked the class that Petersen put together the #1 in the conference and I'm going to pop off about it", Lake about the 2021 class - "The recruiting site rankings don't matter. We are smarter than the recruiting sites and all of the other 120+ FBS programs. Only our elite scouting team were able to uncover hidden gems like Jumper and Finau who received 0 other offers"
-Our offense is going to be aggressive!
Calls 3 HB dives up the middle after first and goal to set up a FG instead of putting the game away with a TD against the Beav.
Down 21-3 with less than two minutes left in the half against Stanford, channels his inner Pete Carroll and punts on 4th and short in plus territory and then allows Stanford to march down the field and kick a FG before halftime
I'm already leaning towards firing jimmy at this point. Too many red flags and not much reason for optimism. If we don't see significant improvement on the field and in recruiting next year he's officially on the hot seat along with Cohen. -

Sark > Ty but let's review a Pete 2020 season:
1) Smalls doesn't play, ZTF barely plays. Chin and some other guys are playing over Rome and Jalen.
2) More wildcat failure. Offense is just as bad as it was last year.
3) Morris gets the shit beat out of him because the blocking schemes don't change.
4) Our recruiting class is only marginally better because we went 8andFucking5 last year.
5) We lose to Beavlet (it's hard), Utah (it's really hard), and Shaw names the score in the final game.
6) We're talking about a coach collecting checks in early retirement instead of a first time head coach going 3-1 and winning the North in his first year. -

1) ZTF plays a lot I think, but can see some more Chin reps.
2) Offense stinks
4) We probably get 1 out of 2 of the missed 5 star kids, but tOSIO sill raids kicks downs our fence.
5) Pete probably goes 2-2 with the schedule.
Jimmy has a lot to work on, but I'm not seeing proof thus far that he's going to be an abject failure here. Could be decent to good. Odds are still against him being "elite". -
Who TF is ZTF sitting behind? Or Smalls?haie said:

The position was decimated by departures and injuries, no fucking chance Pete isn't playing those guys. -
ZTF played a decent amount last year, and the staff raved about him. Why wouldn't he be next in line this year after Latu went out? That one makes zero sense.
Lot of shitting on Petersen around here. It's weird. I get the disappointment over the burnout season last year, but that shouldn't be the benchmark for a coach at UW. Saying, "Jimmy did better than a coach who was over it and a team that wasn't giving him their best" isn't saying much. I'd like to compare the new coach to Petersen's 2016-2018 run, which wasn't perfect, but was demonstrably possible at UW. What we should be saying is, "2016 Petersen absolutely plungers that Stanford team without lube and takes Utah and Beavis to the woodshed. We should have a coach who can do that." -
He’s arrogant. Just fucking win please.

No sense in waiting. Fire him and Cohen now and avoid the chinevitable "success" of losing a tight Alamo bowl against Kansas State in year three.
-
If Jimmy lake had any balls (or brains) he would have publicly been out in front of the UW pussying out of the bowl game and been on record saying they are excited and working on getting healthy again for the best bowl game possible in a few weeks.
81% chance Jimmy bent over for Jen and begged for the pegging in her office -

Blaming Jimmy for anything virus related is FS. He can’t control every aspect of the player’s lives and even if he could, people are still getting covid and the contact tracing bullshit is ridiculous.
-
We should be very good next year. If we are, Jimmy did his job. If not, I will be concerned.

The Jimmy is Sark stuff after 4 games and a North Championship is paste eating FS.
And I am probably more fed up with our defensive scheme than most here. -
To me the what if isn’t if Pete stayed for this year but if Lake had taken over after the #myrapp rose bowel.
What would the record have been last year with a Jimmy coached team? 11-2? -

For everyone who says John Dong was better than expected, what did you expect? Keystone Kops routines of players running into each other and constant muffed handoffs? How bad could it have been?
The offense played well against a mid tier Big Sky calibre team, and passably when forced to not run John Dong's scheme aka down by 21 because they did fuck-all in the first half.
We wanted to run a retro/retardo offense with a schizophrenic 4 RB rotation with Kamari "Zeke" Pleasant as RB1 and the most promising returner from last year relegated to the dog house and the sideline for unknown reasons. This is with scads of putatively talented WRs and an NFL-ready TE, and a QB who earned the right to try to open it up a little bit more. I'll give Don Juanovan some credit for Morris's pocket presence, but that's about the extent of it. -
I won’t call it sizzle but doogs love recruiting. Losing Egbuka and JTT sucks and shouldn’t be happening, but winning cures all. Just get it done. We should win the conference next year.haie said:

I hate recruiting because right now, we are supposed to have the top WR’s on the West Coast in Spiker and Osbourne, Julius Irving is a star at safety, Asa Turner is Kam Chancellor, Myles Murao is starting at center (he won’t next year either). A bunch of dooging over over blue chips when a good portion of those guys are overrated low 4 star guys.
We got higher rated players for our level up and we didn’t level up. Now the reason is because we retained assistant coaches and recruiting needed to be any better.
The goalposts and blame are always moving and really the reason we didn’t level up is because the coaching wasn’t as good as it needed to be and many of the higher rated recruits sucked. -
Wait? There are people blaming Jimmy for the team getting the virus???RoadDawg55 said:Blaming Jimmy for anything virus related is FS. He can’t control every aspect of the player’s lives and even if he could, people are still getting covid and the contact tracing bullshit is ridiculous.
I’ve seen people criticize him/the program for pretending they were actually doing anything better than other programs
I’ve criticized him for not atleast putting forward the image of wanting to play in both the CCG and a bowl game.
As I famously said after the Stanford game, once the vid was in the system it was going to run wild just like Stanford did against our defense.
They (he) should have been better prepared for the inevitable, they should have been ready to lobby the pac12 and bowl games to delay for a week while it ran through the system, they should have been consistently saying they will do everything they can to play as many games as possible....
Instead they did things like turn down Army, rolled over without a fight on the CCG, and the just closed it down when a bowl game could be weeks away. -
Jimmy doesn't deserve blame for the virus. He does get some blame for running the team that was clearly the least organized in terms of overcoming a covid outbreak. Either the kids didn't really care enough about playing to take it seriously or the coaches weren't creative enough in finding ways around the regulations. The Stanford game was apparently nearly cancelled so thats when it started,, meaning the covid thing essentially took the team out of action for a month because they couldn't get it under control.

And our first couple of Pete classes were massively underrated. These weren't tryhards guys, many of them are getting significant PT in the NfL. Because they love football and love smacking people.RoadDawg55 said:

The highest rated lb in our conference is our walk on lb. The highest (or was) rated edge rusher was a low rated guy who imo is much better than Thibs.
I get what the tbsers are saying. Stack talent so your misses don't hurt you. You need a level of athleticism to compete with Bama. No doubt.
But there's always another dimension to football other than fat fucks evaluating high school kids.
Our coaches are good, maybe great at a lot of things. They need to get over themselves in some areas though. -
