Running Tally of Jimmy Lake Overpromising and Underdelivering
Just one year on the job, and there are already a lot to choose from - below is just what comes easily to mind.
Please add. His bravado is already wearing thin.
1) That UW is going to close on the high quality 2021 in-state recruits and outperform Oregon (at Oregon MBB halftime - all down hill from here)
2) John Donovan going to install an “attacking” and “aggressive” offense
3) Have the “highest attendance” of any Spring Game in the country. Was never going to happen even without covid.
4) Comments (multiple times) that the school who manages the virus best will be holding the Pac 12 championship trophy. (He might actually be right on this one)

Im sorry, but when I have to be the person around here spreading the Holiday cheer, you know this place is fucking gloomy.
It was an abortion of a season, entirely new everything, and the team went 3-1 and showed some mental toughness when down for the first time in forever. You can argue they shouldnt have been down big and be right, but they showed some heart. The offense was better than most expected when it started getting into a rhythm.
Recruiting sucked, he needs to do better next year. The vid sucks even more.
But seriously, lighten the fuck up, drink, fuck the boyfriend, whatever. Jesus.
Tar and feather the coaching staff if next year the team sucks, but right now Jimmy is batting 75% and it is what it is. Fuck 2020 and fuck everyone here.
Merry Christmas
-Lake about the 2020 class - "The recruiting sites ranked the class that Petersen put together the #1 in the conference and I'm going to pop off about it", Lake about the 2021 class - "The recruiting site rankings don't matter. We are smarter than the recruiting sites and all of the other 120+ FBS programs. Only our elite scouting team were able to uncover hidden gems like Jumper and Finau who received 0 other offers"
-Our offense is going to be aggressive!
Calls 3 HB dives up the middle after first and goal to set up a FG instead of putting the game away with a TD against the Beav.
Down 21-3 with less than two minutes left in the half against Stanford, channels his inner Pete Carroll and punts on 4th and short in plus territory and then allows Stanford to march down the field and kick a FG before halftime
I'm already leaning towards firing jimmy at this point. Too many red flags and not much reason for optimism. If we don't see significant improvement on the field and in recruiting next year he's officially on the hot seat along with Cohen.
Sark > Ty but let's review a Pete 2020 season:
1) Smalls doesn't play, ZTF barely plays. Chin and some other guys are playing over Rome and Jalen.
2) More wildcat failure. Offense is just as bad as it was last year.
3) Morris gets the shit beat out of him because the blocking schemes don't change.
4) Our recruiting class is only marginally better because we went 8andFucking5 last year.
5) We lose to Beavlet (it's hard), Utah (it's really hard), and Shaw names the score in the final game.
6) We're talking about a coach collecting checks in early retirement instead of a first time head coach going 3-1 and winning the North in his first year.
1) ZTF plays a lot I think, but can see some more Chin reps.
2) Offense stinks
4) We probably get 1 out of 2 of the missed 5 star kids, but tOSIO sill raids kicks downs our fence.
5) Pete probably goes 2-2 with the schedule.
Jimmy has a lot to work on, but I'm not seeing proof thus far that he's going to be an abject failure here. Could be decent to good. Odds are still against him being "elite".
The position was decimated by departures and injuries, no fucking chance Pete isn't playing those guys.
Lot of shitting on Petersen around here. It's weird. I get the disappointment over the burnout season last year, but that shouldn't be the benchmark for a coach at UW. Saying, "Jimmy did better than a coach who was over it and a team that wasn't giving him their best" isn't saying much. I'd like to compare the new coach to Petersen's 2016-2018 run, which wasn't perfect, but was demonstrably possible at UW. What we should be saying is, "2016 Petersen absolutely plungers that Stanford team without lube and takes Utah and Beavis to the woodshed. We should have a coach who can do that."

*declines bowl game* to the list
81% chance Jimmy bent over for Jen and begged for the pegging in her office
I'll take some excitement, a decent season, and massive byu/wsu Cuoglet and quook meltdowns.
And 3/5 North Division banners
How the fuck did Pete do in 2014 again?
