Anyone following this Bernardo Palacios-Carbajal police shooting in Utah?

On paper I like most of Cruz (position wise), but you nailed it, he is just offputting. Not a charismatic bone in his body. Hell Biden has more charisma and he doesn't even know where he is. It's the nasally voice, used car salesman looks, and general "fake politician vibe" he exudes.creepycoug said:
That too. I actually do like him. He's really fucking smart. Plus, he has Cuban blood running through his veins, so you know he's got the goods. And, for those of us who occasionally bristle at Don's behavior, Cruz would conduct himself like a statesman and say 1/1000th of the stupid shit that Trump says.SFGbob said:

I think you're going to like what comes after Trump (Ted Cruz). Trump is cutting a new path, a path that was once there but became overgrown with decades of bullshit. The path of of being okay with being proud of your country. It's okay to stand up tho China, it's okay to push an America first agenda. I believe it took a guy like Trump to pull this off. Please and thank you will not wake people up.thechatch said:The police NUMBER ONE JOB is to protect the community and themselves from violent criminals. Fuck off with the rest of the nonsense. I’m tired of this shit. We are at the point where every shooting(not every shooting...just those involving a POC) is being lumped in with Freddie Gray or George Floyd. It’s just not the case, and this is wholly owed to the way liberals and The News package and present their messaging, catering to the social media musings and rants of a bunch of people so ignorantly partisan in their political ideologies and twisted up in SJW fetishes that they look for boogeymen in every single interpersonal interaction they encounter, online or otherwise.
Let me be clear. I cannot stand the way Donald Trump carries himself and the office of POTUS. I cannot stand the uneven messaging and incendiary divisive tweets. I want a unifier and a leader as a president...not a boorish shit slinger. I cannot stand the disjointed FP from the WH.
All that said, I’m almost ready to stroke a vote for the guy, just because I am sick of all the other shit from the left even more. My King Co vote is a throwaway anyway, so it doesn’t matter, but the way the MSM serves up news narratives is fucking embarrassing, and I’ve spent the last 2 months watching the neighborhood where I live and work descend into chaos because of a total abdication of responsibility from democratic leadership, at best, and willful provocation, at worst.
All the Dems had to do was present a unifying message and a centrist candidate to get my vote in November, but instead the party seems to be going all in on race wars and socialism. In 2020 I’ll be voting R across the fucking board, even though I’d probably give Trump a D as POTUS right now.
- Protect those individual civil rights outlined in the constitution
- Keep taxes low
- Keep Employment and GDP High
- Acknowledge and embrace our geopolitical allies
- Acknowledge and confront our geopolitical adversaries, and do it from a position of strength
- Leave the rest of the shit up to the states.
That is all I ask. That’s all we really fucking need. The rest is just a bunch of window dressing.
Fuck.
Will Ted be able to align himself, and appeal, to the hard ass right to help him battle the hard ass left?
I don't know. Cruz, as I said, likes to come off skrong with preacher-like fire and brimstone. But he whines a lot and gets his dick bent rather easily. Like I said, Trump sent him home crying with a warm up shot.
He's a little too much evangelical camp for my tastes, but I could get over that.
His real problem is, as you say, he has an offputting way about him. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's a weird combination of trying too hard, being pedantic and sounding whinny. Or something. There is something that makes him come off insincere, or like he's trying hard to be a persona. He certainly isn't the natural that Trump. In those ways, he lacks anything like Trump's charisma.
I think a lot of people who love Trump might find Cruz underwhelming. -
Cruz is stepping up his pithy twitters game. He’s doing a pretty decent job of transforming into an internet tuff guy.Swaye said:

Yeah I haven't paid attention to him since Trump made him cry. Perhaps he is remaking himself and version 2.0 will be more to my tastes. Nobody thought Nixon had a future after the Kennedy debate.PurpleThrobber said:

I think if Cruz hung out here for like a two-year training camp, he might shape up enough for a run.PurpleThrobber said:

Never write-off Tricky Dick, even after Death. He alternatively haunts and inspires, daily. -
It wasn’t the debate nor Presidential race with Kennedy in 1960 that made people think Nixon was washed up. It was losing the California governor’s race to Pat Brown in 1962 that made people think Nixon was finished in politics.Swaye said:

I’d share a Four Loco with him at the 7-11 on Aurora in the UDistrict lately.
That was the “You won’t have Nixon to kick around anymore” loss that made people think he was done.

You capture my sentiments exactly. Are you Cuban by chance?thechatch said:The police NUMBER ONE JOB is to protect the community and themselves from violent criminals. You can’t just run from a crime scene with a weapon and expect them to wave to you because your back is turned.

Yeah I haven't paid attention to him since Trump made him cry. Perhaps he is remaking himself and version 2.0 will be more to my tastes. Nobody thought Nixon had a future after the Kennedy debate.PurpleThrobber said:
Cruz is stepping up his pithy twitters game. He’s doing a pretty decent job of transforming into an internet tuff guy.Swaye said:
I like Cruz but his demeanor is really off putting for some people. I don't see him being able to attract the support Trump has.creepycoug said:
I wonder if Ted has the balls for it. I wonder if he's Tug Skrong enough. He got his balls pushed up into his asshole when Trump made fun of his wife. Fuck, that was a warm up for Trump.89ute said:
I think you're going to like what comes after Trump (Ted Cruz). Trump is cutting a new path, a path that was once there but became overgrown with decades of bullshit. The path of of being okay with being proud of your country. It's okay to stand up tho China, it's okay to push an America first agenda. I believe it took a guy like Trump to pull this off. Please and thank you will not wake people up.thechatch said:The police NUMBER ONE JOB is to protect the community and themselves from violent criminals.
