The fuck is he doing in Jacksonville? I know he’s got kids and it’s quarantine... but still not a good sign in my opinion.

What would be one's motivation to watch this video?

    Probably.

Not a dynamic personality based on the video.

Minimal football stuff. I think focusing on concepts that can be moved in space to keep plays simple but formations dynamic is good.

I am concerned that after spending four years as assistant to the running backs coach of an NFL team he doesn't think there is room to innovate in the running game.

I am glad he thinks you do need to be able to run the ball and pick up tough yards.

The fuck do you want him to do, be in Seattle away from his family just to be doing the exact same shit working remotely?

If innovation means handing Lindquist the ball in the wildcat, I'll take the boring pitch to Newton off of left tackle any day.

    No shit. 49ers? Hello?

Still, LIPO. I'm not gonna get too bent about this shitty interview.

    Nobody innovates in the NFL.

Football innovation takes place primarily at the HS level, trickles up to college and after 30 or 40 years might get to the NFL.

The NFL is conservative as fuck.

This is my biggest concern with Jimmy's NFL fetish. You aren't getting new ideas by hiring from the NFL. They might have better drills or understanding of film study but they don't have fresher playbooks.
@dnc is dialed the F in. I'd say there's more and faster cross pollination between high school & college though.

49ers offense is built off the zone run, Shanahan’s Dad has been using it since the 90’s. Not super innovative, just extremely well executed and playcalled.

Ravens are using the pistol, which originated from college.

Most other good teams use a watered down pro spread, which originated from college.

Closest thing to innovation in the NFL is what the Saints are doing with Taysom Hill

McVeigh is closer to innovative than Shannahan but still those guys aren't innovating anything, they are just innovative for the NFL.

1000 times this. 2016 a little less innovation would have been great on 2nd and 1. 2019 Oregon, a little less innovation would have been great a few times. Hell, 1990, a little less innovation on 1st and goal from the 7 would have been great.

    Pound the ball!
