Jabez Tinae, 2021 4* WR, Burien (Kennedy Catholic), WA (Committed)

Spiker was getting solid reps at the end of the year. I think if Chin or Jones were going to portal they would've already done so by now. Chin probably recognizes he has zero shot at a professional career and might just enjoy being at UW. Same with Jones (who I wish would portal). I could see Osborne taking off if he's buried on the depth chart after spring ball.RoadDawg55 said:
There will be a couch sale or two before this season even begins. Ty Jones, Osborne, Spiker, Chin... Very possible only 1 or 2 stay. Taj Davis is young but if he’s like the 8th WR, he’s another that could go. Attrition is happening with that group.Neighbor2972 said:Interesting timing to offer Jabez. We only graduate one WR next year (Chin), although a couch sale or two is likely. So taking more than 3 WRs would be weird. But of course Emeka and Franklin are takes no matter what, and it sounds like both will be waiting awhile to commit. And they're both too good to be pressured to commit to save their 'spot'.
Theoretically we view Junior > Jabez since we offered him first. Do we take the commit of one of them? Both? Is Jimmy going to more liberal with non-commitable offers to in-state kids?
I guess it doesn't matter because if Emeka and Franklin want to commit you don't really worry about numbers, and it seems unlikely we get both. Might as well get the in-state kids in the class early. Especially since the California WR class doesn't seem all that great outside of Franklin and Beaux Collins, pretty rare to only have offered two California WRs at this point.
Fuck it, I guess I've talked myself into it. I don't like either as much as any of the WRs we took in '20, but it could just be a down year. And there's value in getting Sam's teammates and loading up on in-state kids.
I agree that both Kennedy kids are underwhelming. Would be interesting if they would get offers if they didn’t play for Huard and a team that hucks the ball around. Both without Franklin and/or Egbuka would be really shitty. -
I can imagine Lake will change the culture somewhat so that Pete's archaic rules of rolling out playing time so you eventually see the field your Jr and Sr years will be replaced by giving fresh legs the opportunity to fight for the ball early.... guys who display in-game ability will keep playing; those who don't (or only show up in practice) will not. Given so few of the WR depth chart has had a chance to play for realz I don't know what to expect (beyond Puka and Bynum, of course).

What's odd is that the DL has always had a rotation that played young guys since Pete has been here. I still maintain this philosphy belongs to the position coaches. Ultimately, Pete should have stepped in and forced their hands but Pete is a process guy and lets his coaches do their jobs.Meek said:I can imagine Lake will change the culture somewhat so that Pete's archaic rules of rolling out playing time so you eventually see the field your Jr and Sr years will be replaced by giving fresh legs the opportunity to fight for the ball early.... guys who display in-game ability will keep playing; those who don't (or only show up in practice) will not. I don’t think all of those guys will transfer but at least 1, and probably more likely 2 or 3 will.Tequilla said:

I could see Chin transfer to somewhere where he can get some snaps ... not sure where he is at from a graduating standpoint
I wouldn’t be shocked if Jones walked as a senior this year ... I’ve heard some things that suggest he is playing more school than football (nothing wrong with that per se)
The depth chart will be wide open now that we’ve hopefully moved on from the seniority BS -
Both of the Kennedy WR look really good to me. Tinae in particular is really good after the catch. His hands look good, he's a legit slot guy who can make big plays out of quick slants and screens but he's not a fly weight midget.
UW WR depth, aside from the incoming guys and Nacua, lacks guys who are threats with the ball in their hands. I'd consider Tinae a take even if he's the 4th WR in a class where we may not need four. -
You’re normally good at this, so I will take your word. I still think you’re off on Sunday tho. He’s going to be a beast RB for us if he makes it here.chuck said:Both of the Kennedy WR look really good to me. Tinae in particular is really good after the catch. Fuck school. Stay eligible and help us win games. I don’t give a shit if they are scholars or not. Ty Jones is a pussy and I hope he does leave.Tequilla said:I could see Chin transfer to somewhere where he can get some snaps ... not sure where he is at from a graduating standpoint

Not sure I agree with the bolded statement, but I do appreciate it. I have a lot of opinions so some turn out right.RoadDawg55 said:

Sunday has some good traits for sure. He can be good if he sticks to what he's built for which is ramming that brick like frame into tacklers. -
What seniority bullshit are you talking about? Apart from the obvious misuse of WRs (opera singer in particular), there is absolutely no consistent pattern in not playing talented youngsters because of seniority. Even last year at WR position, Puka played as a true freshman. People spew nonsense without thinking or looking at the evidence. You might blame Pete for the offensive scheme which prevented young guys to excel early, but there was ZERO evidence that Pete makes personnel decision (other than QB of course) in position groups.Tequilla said:I could see Chin transfer to somewhere where he can get some snaps ... not sure where he is at from a graduating standpoint
