LA Times writer witnessed Kobe copter crash

"it was a foggy morning, with visibility at less than 60 feet."
"Using binoculars, I was able to see the aircraft had been torn apart and was on fire."

It doesn’t matter at this point
What matters is families were ripped apart at their core
And way down the pecking order the world of basketball lost an influencer that had the power to influence both men’s and women’s basketball going forward in a profound way
For as great as Kobe was on the court ... he held the power to be a greater influence off of it
It’s beyond a sad day ...
And fuck anybody that wants to come out with a “I seen it” perspective -
Precisely why I can't figure out why anyone would say the day Magic retired was a sadder day.Tequilla said:It doesn’t matter at this point

In 1991 HIV was a death sentence ...
Magic was an active player coming off a trip to the Finals ...
Kobe was retired ...
I’m gutted by all the children involved as it’s beyond horrible
I don’t know how you compare the two ...
I wasn’t yet a teenager for Magic ... I’m in my 40s for Kobe ... maybe that’s jading me a bit
Both are monumental you know were you were hearing the news ... I was and am deeply impacted all day ... I will be for a while
This is so devastating on so many levels ...
Magic’s announcement taught me be careful who you sleep with ...
Kobe is a flat out tragedy ...
What am I supposed to think?
Fuck you for in any way suggesting that my feelings are right, wrong, or anything in between
This sucks ... and I’ve been hurting all day ... and I will be hurting for a while
It’s just bad ... so so bad -
there's no need to compare the twoTequilla said:

Not going anywhere Derek ...
What I’m calling out are both monumental and tragic events that in the time/place were moment stands still events
The 30 year old ago me combined with what we knew about HIV at the time ... hard to explain
Today ... just straight out tragic
But go ahead and judge people’s opinions and emotions ... particularly mine because you’ve been so “dialed in” with regards to my thoughts in the past -
You're taking this personally when in reality I didn't judge you at all. I merely gave my opinion that these are two separate tragedies that are apples and oranges.Tequilla said:Not going anywhere Derek ...

You also say you're not going anywhere, as if you're standing in defiance of me somehow. You're welcome here, and I am not trying to drive you from HH.
I think you're reacting emotionally to the tragedy (which is understandable) and you're perceiving slights where none exist. -
There would be no "gloves off" or Teq without perceived slights.DerekJohnson said:

I'm too worried about the coronavirus to contemplate any of this right now.

I know where not comparing the lives of these two players, but perhaps no team better shows my personal evolution as a sports fan than the Lakers. Little YellaPiss in the 80s loved Showtime and would scream at the TV with my old man at the Celtic and Pistons. Fuck you James Edwards!!...Dawg or no Dawg. I cried like a little girl when Magic retired.DerekJohnson said:

Then 1990- 92 happened and I decided pro sports sucked and college football was where it's at.
I don't think I watched an entire game from start to finish that Kobe played in. I did buy a Kobe jersey in the late 90's to be Fletch for Halloween. -

I was at Costco buying a tv
Got the $1.50 hot dog like a boss. Treated the whole family to lunch. Wife got a smoothie instead.....bitch
Heard the news at the food court. Yelled out “FUCK!” Some guy says....”oh you heard about Kobe too?”
“No... deli mustard is out. Have to use yellow mustard like a poor.”
