OC position

Monken has run good offenses in college. Okie state when they have been really good on offense and southern miss. They lit us up in the Dallas bowl.bananasnblondes said:So I havent done a ton of research on each individual OC candidate, but why do we(?) think Todd Monken, whose offense was a complete disaster this year, would be a homerun hire but Kellen Moore, whose offense was statistically pretty damn good, would be a terrible hire?
Is it just the Boise State connection?
That would be the reason for optimism. Also has been a head coach with a ton of experience. Turned around southern miss and left for some reason. But they were good in his 3rd year.

I like base my opinion off of 1 year. I like to do that.bananasnblondes said:So I havent done a ton of research on each individual OC candidate, but why do we(?) think Todd Monken, whose offense was a complete disaster this year, would be a homerun hire but Kellen Moore, whose offense was statistically pretty damn good, would be a terrible hire?

Yes. I’m so fucking done with that stupid school and all their overachieving talent, not including Jimmy cause he’s an Eastern Eag first.bananasnblondes said:So I havent done a ton of research on each individual OC candidate, but why do we(?) think Todd Monken, whose offense was a complete disaster this year, would be a homerun hire but Kellen Moore, whose offense was statistically pretty damn good, would be a terrible hire?

Moore has the Cowboys doing well against losing teams and struggling against good teams in his 15 game career
Like his old coach -
Fade routes on 4th and 6 with the season on the line with your alpha receiver on the bench because of the package you are attempting to run is all I need for a HARD PASS.

Lashlee would be a great hire. It’s not settling for Eason if you have a guy like Lashlee on the hook.
That being said if Eason is gone anyway I agree it makes sense to wait a week and see if someone you like even more comes along. Risky though because Lashlee or whoever else was the guy might no longer be available. -
You guys forget how bad Strausser’s recruiting was. He was losing guys to Utah, Arizona, and OSU at the end there.
You can’t believe his firing was justified based on failure to bring in talent and also indict the successor for not doing more with that talent.
Our OL was mediocre because McGary is gone and Adams’ body is shot.
Next year will be telling for Huff. -
For the amount of talent and experience we had this year, the o line should have been much better than it was. You had 3 seniors, a former army all american, and a 5th guy who is the best of the group.FremontTroll said:You guys forget how bad Strausser’s recruiting was. Individually, these guys are fine. They sucked ass playing as a unit and have since Huff started coaching them. That's on him. That being said, I wouldn't fire him at this point, but if they are bad again next year, I'd start looking. -
Is it too much to ask for them to execute a screen play?FremontTroll said:You guys forget how bad Strausser’s recruiting was. He was losing guys to Utah, Arizona, and OSU at the end there.

Or pick up any type of blitz with consistency? -
I want to light myself on fire for this, but I think circumstances...while not excusing him...buy Huff a little patience. Hes done fine with individual development. McGary was picked high and had a good rookie year. Hilbers has quietly done well and will be a draft pick. Adams grades out well in spite of the shit hes taken here and will be a high pick if he can pass a physical. Nick Harris might even get drafted. I think these guys have developed well under him and the grades and kudos they get reflect as much.
It's the line as a unit that has been shaky and prone to complete misfires where nobody gets blocked. This has been the case since Pete came to UW. I think it's inaccurate to put too much of schematic and assignment failures in the OL coach. I bet that's what Hamdan wanted to do.
