Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatFuck the playoffs you closeted 12 losers.

The single-minded media focus on the playoff is awful right now - just see the "here's how Bama can still make playoff" stuff as the LSU game was ending. Or the three million articles about the same 5-6 teams starting in July, or even in mid January.
If they can come up with a playoff that makes sense and doesn't continue to worsen the gap between the top teams and everyone else, then give us that. Fix the ridiculous scheduling differences between conferences while they're at it.
Otherwise, give us the bowl system. -
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffI would only go back to bowls-only if there weren't 724 bowls and if FCS wins didn't count toward bowl eligibility.

When I was in my mid teens, there were 14-15 bowl games. That felt about right.1to392831weretaken said:I would only go back to bowls-only if there weren't 724 bowls and if FCS wins didn't count toward bowl eligibility.

Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatThis current system is essentially ran by ESPN. Too corrupt

Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatVoted for return to bowls. I liked the discussion and arguments when it wasn’t clear on the field which team should be crowned. CFP makes the traditional bowls less important.

Current “playoff” is worse than past bowl system
A better playoff system is better than past bowl system
5 auto bids; one from each conference winner
6 play-in teams (3 games) determined by highest ranking that didn’t win conference championship game or are from non P5 or independent.
Play-in games at higher rank home field.
After play-in games to an 8 team playoff
Round of 8: home field of higher seeded team
Round of 4: bowl game site
Championship: bowl game site
All P5 conference must have championship game
All P5 teams must play at least 9 conference and 2 OOC games
All P5 teams must play at least one OOC game against another P5 opponent
No games against div2/fcs opponents will count
Or just go full commie soccer relegation mode -

Not just run by ESPN but they own most of the shitty bowl games. Part of the explosion of bowl games is because ESPN needed more material.joeEDangerously said:This current system is essentially ran by ESPN. Too corrupt
In summary and as always, fuck ESPN with a rusty cheese grater.

Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatI'd do a hybrid in which the top two teams play a week after NYD.
The playoff lost me when two SEC teams played each other. Again. -
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffI go back and forth. The new BCS meant more good, meaningful games so I miss it.
On the other hand I want 1991 Miami.
If they can't come up with a playoff format that involves more teams and games, approximately equaling the number of traditionally good bowl games, then I'd prefer going back. -
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffWinner want to win

No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffGoing back to the Bowls would be lame now after we’ve already had the playoff. The bets should play the best.
With the old bowl system an undefeated team would sometimes play a team with 3 losses. Ohio State being undefeated and playing a 2-3 loss Oregon or Utah team would suck. -
Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatI would like 8 teams. 5 conference champs and 3 at large.
-
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffThe BCS was stupid because it was ESPN driven. It would have been nice to see the Pete Carroll USC teams get some more cracks at winning a title.
The playoff is fun. Like others have said, it needs to be 8 teams. There is a way to still have the real bowl games mean something and have a true champion. -

Undefeated Penn State got stuck with Oregon in 94 and Nebraska won the nattyRoadDawg55 said:Going back to the Bowls would be lame now after we’ve already had the playoff. The bets should play the best.

No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffI like watching elite teams play elite teams.
I also don’t trust the new age media to objectively vote on a national champion. Now it’s less reporters and more guys who try to get as many clicks as possible to keep their shitty dying newspapers alive -
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffTo add: Adam Jude was an AP voter up until last year. Adam fucking Jude would’ve had a 1/65th say in crowning a national champion. No thanks

No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffI used to be #TeamPlayoff, but now I’m nostalgic for the old system. That being said, I can’t see how reverting back would work.

Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatTo me the 8 team play off is just another step towards the eventual 32 team super conference. So fuck it - no more half measure. Either make CF into the NFL or don't. All this 'tweener shit is lame.
-
Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatHere's some bull shit piece from 2016 on Fox (sports is your source?) of a 24 team "super conference". Oregon, Stanford UCLA and UW out. Lol.
You'd have to add UW to the West along with either ASU or Utah.

Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatIf you voted for the playoff you are probably queer.
-
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffProbably?

No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffvoting no but not sold on it - as long as a committee rates the teams I think it will be political. I know take it to the tug.
using 7 computer ranking systems and getting the average for playoffs sounds better than a committee. 4 spots and 5 conferences sucks. Two teams from one conference is a big screw up - can't win your conference? no playoffs.
Take it to 8 teams - 5 conference champs, best from the group of 6 what ever that is and Bama/LSU/Ga/Fla (two o them that didn't win the conf) -
No, I like what they're trying to do to crown a true champion with a playoffThe gay option
go to 4 divisions - each division would have 40 teams - 4 10 team leagues. 4 winners go to playoffs.
Bottom 2 from each first division league drop to a second division league, second to third, third to fourth, fourth to oblivion.
Top two from fourth div leagues go to third div leagues, third to second, second to first.
just like soccer in Europe. All the lefties in the tug would be happy -
Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatFuck this abortion they have now. It’s as if they purposely devised a plan to suck all the fun and joy out of college football
-
Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatUse all the bowl results to come up with the final rankings at least. Makes the ny6 games a sort of play in to be in the natty.
-
Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff formatChrist almighty fuck me. Here comes "how my playoffs system would work" guy. We get it. There are 256 ways it would work. Yes... every other division does it. But the bowls were different different. Who likes the mini NFL? Mouthbreathing trogs.
-
Yes, I liked it the way it was before the BCS and playoff format
Have a fucking play off or don’t. “Use the bowls as playoff games” is stupid. Just have a playoff and scrap the bowls or scrap the playoff and keep the bowls. They hybrid compromise sucks ass. FCS division figured it out. Why do people think it’s so complicated and the FBS Division is so unique that a normal playoff can’t happen.Canadawg said:Use all the bowl results to come up with the final rankings at least.
