If you know your going to a fight you bring a long gun. Police are often called to known circumstances and rifles are very appropriate. Shotguns too. It's like golf different clubs for differing circumstances. At my department we carried both in a dual rack in the car. -

It isn't just the so called left that wants to ban guns. It's the so called right also. Republicans and Democrats are in bed together on this. It's a republican, Lindsey Graham, who is pushing red flag laws nationally, and he has the support of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
