“Experience” is what Pete tells recruits to do before deciding...
“I have seen” ... cook it.DoogCourics said:The last off-season stop has been completed and now Rome Odunze turns his focus to a verbal commitment.
The four-star wide receiver from Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman is closing in on a decision after taking his final un-official visit of the summer this past weekend to Oklahoma, which joined the chase with a scholarship offer in mid May.
Odunze tells 247Sports the Sooners made a big impression on his first-ever trip to Norman.
"It was a really good visit and I know they've got a great thing going on down there," Odunze said. "The whole coaching staff is real cool and they have a winning attitude of trying to get that national championship It was a good environment for me to experience and a great visit overall.
"The coaches told me how they'd utilize me in the offense. They've got three different receiver positions I'd fit in and have the versatility to use me differently. Obviously that would be big for playing time. Coach Lincoln Riley is awesome and he's got a great coaching style. He's an offensive minded coach so that's good. He's ambitious but he loves Oklahoma so I don't see him going anywhere else anytime soon. I liked coach Riley a lot."
Washington is another major contender for the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Odunze and sources indicate that, although no programs have been eliminated from contention, it appears like a Huskies versus Sooners battle heading into the final stretch.
"I'm definitely close to making a decision now that I have seen Oklahoma," Odunze said. "I'm going to sit down with my parents and break down all the visits I've been to for the top schools and just let them know what I like. We'll probably create a check list with pros and cons, but also pray about it. After that I know I'll be ready to make my decision. I don't have a date yet. We'll decide as a family and then figure out who to reveal it, either by video or just announce it."
Although the plan is to commit soon, Odunze said he still could take official visits during the season or prior to the early signing period in December if he's able to.
"Officials would be awesome for me, I've just got to fit a time frame and I know keeping up relationships with other coaches is important, just because you don't know what will happen in the future," Odunze said. -
take a 5 star WR and make him a CB. He probably can make the transition, but why make him do it?KrunkJuice said:

So really we should call him a flankerPeterman said:If* they forgo a slot this cycle in order to take some kids you don't want to turn down *cough* Gee Jr *cough* I wouldn't be opposed to moving Ozzy to slot. I think he has the feet for it and we'll be loaded on the outside. Plus he's white so you know he's crafty

The Draft. Everybody today wants to play WR. Look at how many guys he is competing w/ at the WR position nationally compared if he flipped sides. Not nearly as many. I am not saying he should but a guy w/ his measurable under Lake would be a lock for the 1st Rd. WR is a lot tougher.FirePete said:

He's actually a 5* Athlete. The TBS sites think he could play either WR or CB in college. This is why Franklin can be the #1 WR in the country but still be behind Egbuka in the overall rankings.FirePete said:

If his decision actually is imminent it's weird no crystal balls have yet rolled in.
Based on his interview with Ruth I would say he's UW. -
If he is on record as stating that even after a verbal he wants to take visits would Peter's accept his commitment at this point? Or would he tell him him to get it out of his system before he commits?

Or is he just screwing around?Penace said:If he is on record as stating that even after a verbal he wants to take visits would Peter's accept his commitment at this point? Or would he tell him him to get it out of his system before he commits?
No one knows anything. -
I think we will accept a verbal but we need to push to have the last OV, hopefully a weekend in December

Based on the fact that he’s still actually taking the time to give Roof interviews... in the bagdhdawg said:If his decision actually is imminent it's weird no crystal balls have yet rolled in.

According to a friend who lives in Vegas the coach is heavily pushing Oklahoma. So we're gonna have to watch out for that moving forward even if he commits.
-
it's crazy how many high school coaches are always pushing their kids towards any blue blood but us. I guess it's a matter of our reputation still has trickled down to the rest of the country yet or maybe we just don't offer enough high school coaches the jobs or swag some other boosters do.dhdawg said:According to a friend who lives in Vegas the coach is heavily pushing Oklahoma. interesting to say the least. -
Probably because we don't play the bag game as well as the other big boys ...Meek said:

He was just on a visit so it would make sense to focus on Oklahoma things.
I find the mutual following at this point specifically to be very interesting -
