Amazon announced Thursday it was turning back on its plans to build its second headquarters in New York City, a company spokesman said in a statement. The move comes after pressure from lawmakers, notably Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who bemoaned the project.
"After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens," the Seattle-based Amazon said in the release.
"For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term. While polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City," the statement read
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio had previously touted the deal's benefits, which include a pledge from Amazon to create 25,000 jobs, paying an average of $150,000 per year in exchange for a slew of city and state tax breaks and subsidies worth up to $3 billion.

Florida and Texas are praising her like you praise Haden.
3 Billion in tax benefits is a pretty good trade off for an estimated 27 billion in wealth added to the local economy. Not smart considering the state is in the middle of a budget problem. -
Yeah, but those are those dirty private sector jobs. In AOC's utopia everyone works for the state.greenblood said:Florida and Texas are praising her like you praise Haden.

As I tweeted this morning, Race stated importantly, AOC is advocating the government taking everything over to provide living wage jobs with government investment
Yet she opposed this.
Because its a private corp
Don't say they want REAL socialism including all means of production
That comes out in Version 6 -

Care to add something to the discussion or did you just want to say something stupid here? -
Fuck you Hondo. This is a news story. It's being covered by nearly every news outlet. This is news and politics board where people discuss those very same things. Now I realize that for you this is a space for you to workout all the issues you have because your dad hated you but for most of us here, we're here to discuss the news and current events.2001400ex said:Yeah you guys aren't obsessed and scared.
