I went to Safeway today myself. The check out clerk had a tag that said she had been there 33 years. I get that that is her career and what she knows but I was wondering how in the world she never thought, “I hate Susan and Barry, I’m going to Fred Meyer or this new manager sucks, I’m going to Costco.”
That's the saddest thing I've ever read.
That was my exact feeling there.
If she's happy why is it sad? Not everyone can climb the corporate ladder at Orkin.
Orkin is all about killing things. She may not have the cold steel.
Other people I know have it in spades (faggywink).

Being unemployed and sucking off the public teat for 33 years would be sadder.
And your grandparents were on welfare and your grandkids will be on welfare, but you can blame systemic white institutional racism so you sleep great.

It's very rare when I have achieved more than someone in life. Let me have this. Dick.
About 2.5 is when I start to get restless. Finishing up a pretty cool project and then I've got some other consulting stuff lined up so I'll prob transition to a 1099. Most of what I wanted to accomplish is done and it's like okay let's move on. Not in a bad way. Really like the company. Owners are good friends now

Welcome to my life. Pile on to that I’m a UW football fan if you want this to dip more into Terms of Endearment levels of sad. Can we be grocery frank though? She’s probably transferred stores a few times in her 33 years. I’ve been at 4 stores within the same company in 18 years. You have to do it. You can’t work with the same lifeless pack mules for the entirety of your “career”. It’s too depressing. Well, it’s 5:35. My alarm just went off. Cans won’t stack themselves, paper sacks don’t magically fill up, and yes, I know you want your cold shit packed together motherfucker. I’m a professional.
I’m glad that the transfers are likely in her career. At least mix it up a bit. You’re a good man.
