UCLA's big payday might net them zero dollars in the end.
I definitely believe they will make a lot less than expected. They will need to share some of it
It was a win win for SC. Don't need to lose to Washington and Oregon anymore (and get absolutely smacked by Stanford) and get to ruin your rival forever in the process.
UCLA might make $20-30m more annually after sharing with Cal. They still will be over budget as they had a $62.5 million deficit last year alone! Add to that, 5-6 winnable games each year. That should pack the Rose Bowl.
I’d argue USC might make more money, but this hurts them competitively. Oregon and Washington are still going to poach SoCal kids away, and now they have to battle Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan St, Penn st, Wisconsin, and Iowa more aggressively. You thought they sucked at OL recruiting before, wait until these teams come knocking. USC has become Texas. Paper tiger with no teeth.
Maybe things change, but USC traveling to Wisconsin, the Michigan schools, Minnesota in November does not sound good for them.
This. They usually travel poorly, and given how soft they’ve become, playing these teams in November will get ugly. USC is the softest school in the Pac 12 hands down when given the talent they have on paper. And it isn’t close. Riley isn’t fixing that, as his Sooner teams were soft too.
Jay is always a few days behind Gavin. Never forget that.
About what though? The rumor that Oregon and Washington want unequal revenue share with the Pac? He's not going to stand up for little cuoglet there.
When it comes to moronic politicians the things that the most sense are the things they don’t do.
Gav (I like to call him Gav because he's a douchebag, I do that) has been powerless to stop UCLA and it's not even a given he can make UCLA share revenue with Cal. UCLA probably already thought of this and it's not going to happen. And this is different with the whole UC System too. UW has no fucking connection to WSU. UW is barely even a public university when you look at the total percentage of money flowing into the institution.
Jay is a UW Alum and WSU is a tiny school so telling them to fuck off in no way affects him. Unless his wife punishes him somehow. I won't get into that.

Have you seen her? It would be a reward
Trudy could be generously described as homely as fuck.

If they had any balls they would say that they're forced to split extra revenue to the other conference members, therefore, while they're cut needs to be 2-10million, the actual number will need to be 20-100 million per depending on the contract.
This will obviously be impossible for UCLA to do so they will have to go to the BIG and ask for handouts to subsidize their half brained exit strategy.
Do you think the Big will want to payout 50mill/per to keep a 6-6 UCLA when they already have LA wrapped up?
Or just do what they did and let them go for the price of Northwesterns assistant's salary.

Barrel of crabs
Why would the Cali BOR be against this?
To save CAL’s athletic department?
Obvious answer is obvious of course.
We’re talking about California.
UCLA to pay Cal $2 to $10 per year depending on the Pac-12 media agreement
