    Classic liberalism is more closely aligned with libertarianism than the authoritarian view of the new 'liberals'. Progressives want nothing to do with classic liberalism or libertarianism. Progressive want control over every aspect of the individual with the state being the ultimate arbiter of truth (I see you Ministry of Truth).

    The thing that keeps The Throbber from going full on libertarian is the degree of government involvement. Hardcore libertarians would argue that things like borders are unnecessary. There is also a necessary evil of governments for things like providing for the common defense, construction of large scale projects like roads, etc.
