Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
What level of DONE are we?
The Pod was depressing BTW
A good depressing I might add!
Are we all at that stage and belief that DeBoner needs to hit a grand slam of developing what talent he has into an eyebrow raising, giant killing, bowel winning machine for a season or two to get the attention of fans, media, and most importantly recruits? Or are we past the tipping point that the university just wants a Cal-like 7-5 product that does it the right way and sends classy gift baskets to Oregon every holiday season? WhenILookAroundThisRoom.gif I see a bunch of loosers that have given up, well, maybe besides Haie. Maybe we are all missing something and DeBoer just needs more tim to get his guys in there? Seriously....I doubt it's that one....Yeah,
@YellowSnow was right, it's Pea patch time.
I seriously believe DeBoner will be a good coach, our offense will be good, but can he get athletes that are tough and smart enough without the high star ratings to win alot of games?

I’m not seeing a strategy in place that suggests any of the major revenue programs at UW are going to be successful
Cal just extended Wilcox after two horrible years. Chip and Shaw haven't had any real heat, so we aren't anywhere near there yet.
The NIL/ML/Cohen comments are cringe and I get why fans hate them. But there is lots of support, and we haven't had many players transfer. There would have been a mass exodus beyond Oregon feeding Taimani's fat slow ass voodoo donuts.
Emmit Mathews is the biggest one and Hop's a shit coach anyways and knows his time is probably coming after this season. Who knows maybe he doesn't wanna kill himself playing shitty zone anymore. Terrible system to attract talent with, kind of like RTDB was.
At the end of the day you need great coach and motivator to do anything. This staff has shown pretty much everything you can before an actual game except they seem like Utah/Petersen type recruiters which rightfully pisses everyone off. But those types of teams are winning the PAC 12 quite a bit while USC has been shit and Oregon is basically 1-1 in the championship the last 5 years.
Jen wanted to keep Lake after his rained blows upon poor Ruperake, despite the fact that everyone knew he was the worst coach in the Pac-12. That's just inexcusable to want to keep such an incompetent coach around.
She doesn't have the awareness, vision, or leadership to support an FBS program.
My position remains fuck them kids. I want them to get paid out of High School by getting drafted by the NFL and playing for the Toledo @TurdBomber s in front of 4,000 fans in the farm system.
The ruperake thing was the excuse they needed to try and just get it done now instead of spending the offseason mulling over school politics, being late to the hiring process, etc.
There is journalistic evidence out there that shows that Jen wanted to retain Jimmy even after the suspension (opinion shared by both the AD and President) … Jimmy only has Jimmy to blame for not being at UW still
Jen’s left Hopkins in dead man walking territory to the point that it’s pretty much assured at this point that Hop will coach out his contract and not be renewed … that is honestly staggering mismanagement by an AD if your driving light is being focused on program success … the actions of Jen are completely consistent with someone that who prioritizes penny pinching and bottom lines
Jen’s own comments in the last week on NIL are staggeringly bad, have a high likelihood of being a flawed approach, and are comments that can torpedo them efforts of her existing coaches faster than their own lack of recruiting chips are showing
In my opinion you’re massively underestimating how much a culture shift and reset is needed on Montlake … Jen isn’t the complete cause but she’s the easiest person to point to that would be readily replaceable
1: There is journalistic evidence that AMC and JC needed him to make major changes to his program and only then could he possibly be retained. He refused to do that. That's not the same thing as "they wanted to keep him and only didn't because of the optics of shoving a player."
2: I've never defended Jen nor her hire and retaining of Hopkins.
3: I've already said her comments are incredible bad publicity, and she should have been fired after making 2 god awful hires within a year and a half of each other.
4: Literally no one on this site is in her corner nor the AD's. That's including most of the Twitter doogs. So again you're patting yourself on the back for making a WIW comment that you think is really deep and complex. UW has been fucked because they hire bad coaches. What coach at UW has ever succeeded elsewhere? They got somewhat lucky with Petersen and they can still have nailed this hire. Wanting to clean house and thinking Db was a lucky 3rd/4th choice can both exist.
From a program perspective, prestige is still important, but not as important as it was 20 years ago. With the rise of NIL and the arms race with facilities, schools need to run their programs more like professional programs. You can't recruit on name brand alone.
From a coaching perspective, coaching is still important, but you can out coach the shit out of everybody and still not be a consistent winner unless you get the horses. Development still has a place, but if you don't have a staff willing to sell sell sell, you will lack top shelf talent, and will spend each season playing catch up.
It will start to turn around when UW takes money and selling more seriously. The right way isn't the moral way. The right way, is the way that gets the horses in the stable so you can compete from day 1.
Yet you’re optimistic about DeBoer
Go figure
I read this main bored roughly every other day. By that I mean I click on 1-3 threads and read 2-5 comments....know the three quarterbacks and maybe four other players. I just don't GAF beyond sort of wanting wins but expecting failure or mediocrity.
He wants to win at all costs, that's why he stayed at ISU instead of trying out Washington, Oklahoma, or Notre Dame.
