I dont get calling it one game, but

No way that's what is happening. Not even UW could fuck up that bad.

They have and will continue. It’s time you just start supporting them. And quit being Mean to the players.chuck said:I'm going to go ahead and ignore the noise and my own puzzlement with that move and assume it was a necessary step toward something more permanent. It's simply not possible that UW would further hurt the standing of a coach they plan on keeping by giving him a one game slap on the wrist. He's not damaged goods after that, he's refried shit. He's completely fucked...moreso.

UW just gave away all its leverage by imposing this penalty while simultaneously putting a black mark in the record of the head ball coach that they apparently want to keep.
Brilliant.
If there were further action contemplated then you keep it open ended with an indefinite suspension. -

I am sure as hell not giving that 500K to the school now

This is a different reality though as we're talking about UW athletics. By your logic, which unfortunately doesn't apply, UW would bever chop the balls off of a coach it plans to keep by giving him a one game suspension at a time where his grip on the program is already tenuous at best. Right?FremontTroll said:UW just gave away all its leverage by imposing this penalty while simultaneously putting a black mark in the record of the head ball coach that they apparently want to keep.

Probably went into situation without any plan and then panicked.
Best case scenario they are planning to fire at end of year but why wait? And what if they happen to win the last three games? Awkward. -
There are no best case scenarios. Just incompetence.FremontTroll said:

They are probably waiting to see how they can fire him while giving him the least amount of money possible. This year is over and has been for weeks so I don't really care if it's this week or at the end of the season, as long as it gets done.FremontTroll said:

But again- then why not suspend indefinitely?CuntWaffle said:J

By calling it one game they killed any leverage they had like they want to wrap it up and move on.
My guess is they felt they didn’t have enough to fire with cause but felt they needed to do something to show they are taking the Jimmy situation seriously but by trying to take a middle road they end up with the worst of both worlds. -
They apologized for it on his behalf in the press release. What an embarrassment.CuntWaffle said:J

If anything they may have made it harder to Legally get out of his buyout.
I absolutely believe jimmy fired jondon yesterday and he is still in charge. 81% sure he is back next year. Can’t wait for this epic implosion. Next year is a 0-12 type season if he returns. -
The options were to fire him today or punt.
Jen punted.
Just like Jimmy Saturday night, although this time it was 4th and 2 from the plus side 35 yard line.
Just incredible -
What do they value? It seems we continue to assume that what they value is the same as what we value.
They have been embarrassed in front of their peers by this situation and that is what they are responding to. If he loses his job now it will be because of peer pressure and not his coaching.
I don't see any evidence that current state of the program is much of a concern to them at this point. As long as Jimmy keeps smiling and appears to be fielding a competitive team he will keep coaching. -

What an embarrassment. To have two rock bottoms in three days is impressive. -
There it is. Incompetence abounds throughout the administration at several levels, but their number one priority is generating the right PR to make people forget this situation.Blayen said:What do they value? It seems we continue to assume that what they value is the same as what we value.

They had no intention of getting rid of Lake after this year, and this cements it. Lake/Jenn are picking the next OC and it's going to be more 1980's NFL fuck ball offense.
-
Jen, you ignorant slut.

Hammer time!

the halfbrain in me thinks she only suspended him for one game because they didnt want gregory as HC for the remainder of the year because we? have a bowl game* on the line!
the realist in me thinks jimmy is back next year, on a short leash, and gets fired five games in.
im actually really impressed on how fucked up this season has become, probably couldnt have scripted something more fucked up.
*lmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaooooooooooooooooooooooo -
This is worse than lipstick on a pig.
I’m hearing Hells Bells to this football program. The Pacific trash vortex has more hope for remediation than does Husky football.. -
Why does this always happen? USC brought back Helton when it was painfully obvious he wouldn't make it a full season. Once it is known, cut bait. Why let it bleed out? It isn't that difficult.rodmansrage said:

Why can't they suspend him for 1 game without pay and then fire him on Sunday or Monday "after further investigation"?
-
They could. But they won’t. They put a bow on it.HFNY said:Why can't they suspend him for 1 game without pay and then fire him on Sunday or Monday "after further investigation"?

They could. If that was the intent why not just say "suspended without pay pending investigation..."? Why make it a one game suspension, clearly implying that the expectation is for him to be back on the sideline next week?HFNY said:Why can't they suspend him for 1 game without pay and then fire him on Sunday or Monday "after further investigation"?
