The decision to punt was 100% to say “we kept it kinda close at least”.

    Pure cowardice

100%. It was making a decision for selfish purposes rather than anything it takes to win on behalf of the team, the program.
Anyone happen to notice how animated Lake was on the goal line play as time was expiring after the 54th review? Pretty obvious that was Lake thinking about Lake.

There are a lot of likeable players on this team but the staff is failing them no doubt,

Halfway competent coaching this year with this soft schedule in this soft conference goes 10-2 and plays Utah for the title.
Still lose to Montana and Michigan, though.

The call to punt really wasn't that bad of an idea. If you get stuffed there Oregon runs the clock way down and kicks a FG at worst and it's 100% over. If the punt is executed there is at least a chance left if Oregon goes 3 and out.

I get it looked soft and when it turned into a safety it was knives out. Overall it wasn't a bad decision.

It didn't just look soft, it was surrender. Oregon was averaging about 6 yards a carry up the middle. WTF are you talking about?
Don't understand estimate the chance that Moorhead would have called for a backwards pass and the ball is scooped and scored. He tried earlier.
