Nothing says you don't give a shit about recruiting more than offering a local kid 6 months after he committed to UCLA.

He hasn't tweeted anything about UCLA in over a month, it's clear that Chip is fucked there, so why not offer him

If Kelly wins out, does he stay?

I like the offer though and maybe it's due to Tim Horn hitting the portal and his scholarship opening up.

Kelly's got to be gone. This was the year they were supposed to make a jump if he was the right guy. Blowing the Oregon and Fresno games and then getting destroyed by ASU and Utah can't possibly warrant another year, right?

But if he wins out, won't he be 7-5? He might be willing to reassign (or can) his DC if it means keeping his job. I haven't been following UCLA as much as obsessing over who the Huskies could hire to replace Jimmy Fake.

I don't know his buyout though or what the UCLA boosters think. I'm sure many are already looking forward to B-Ball season.

I don't hate leaning on in-state guys with the current state of recruiting and thought they should have done that last year more. It will suck for depth but they might at least get the 2-3 guys who sign with the Beav and Coug each year from Washington who end up being really good.

My case for this not working is Paul Wulff committed to basically just recruiting the best players in-state who didn't go to Washington and it was a historically-bad disaster.
