Eklund made a post after the UCLA game that was something like "For all of you calling for Huard to start against Arizona, are you OK taking the chance that his development could be stunted like many other QBs (provided no examples) who have played as freshman?"
Idiotic take because it's not based in reality. If Sam came out next week against Arizona and threw 3 pics and that changed the entire trajectory of his college career, then he was mentally weak to begin with and it wouldn't have made a difference anyways.
It's nearly 7 weeks into the season (6 games plus a bye week) so if Morris struggles again with bad reads and under thrown ballz, then we just may see Huard. Yeah it's on the road but Arizona sucks big time.
Of course I'm speculating and have no insider knowledge on this one but QBs are a lot more advanced nowadays vs. 10-20 years ago and especially someone like Sam who has a father who played in the NFL for 12 seasons.
OTOH, Jimmy Fake may still be delusional in thinking he can coach the team to a 6-6 record and a Eat Shit & Die Bowl so he show his stubbornness in sticking with Morris.
Yeah, I assume so but that is clearly an inferior strategy as that would mean his first start is likely against ASU (and their conference leading 3.2 sacks per game.)
It would also mean that we miss any upside potential if he is actually better than Morris because he won't get a chance until the season is already over.
The season was over in week 1.
It was over before that. Doogs just hadn't realized it yet.

We wouldn't even have to be good to win this dreck of a conference. Just slightly less bad.

jokes on eklund, there's nobody on this staff that can actually develop huard anyway.

Why would he start over the #2 guy if the #1 guy is benched?
Sam is listed as 3rd because they plan to RS him. If Morris got hurt Sam would clearly be the guy.

Just another reason to tune in on Friday night!
Otherwise Huard is #2.
Oregon is a dog @ UCLA this weekend...
