I want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt on sarcasm, but he's a Mariners fan, so I dunno.

Are we? Calling Pearl Jam winners now?

They had one great, epic album and then lived off of it for 30 years. If we're being truthful.

How many bands can say they put out a greatest hits album for their first album? I’m sure there are a few, but the list is short, IMO

I’d say 1 all timer, plus three pretty good ones

Three feels like a stretch. One all timer and one or two other worthwhile entries.

I think No Code is a “good” but not “great” album.

I think this is more in the context of bands that had greatest level debuts and then were kinda meh after that. Certainly not the case with VH.

    @YellowSnow

30 years later and they sell out arenas. They headline major music festivals. Night after night after fucking night. All over the world.

If that's not winning, I don't know what is.

No. No one lives off one album for 30 years.

They continued to add to their repertoire along the way.

There are no two concerts the same; the set list is never the same.

This will make @dnc cringe, but McCready's solos are greater than anything Vedder does vocally imo.

It just seems to get better and better and better.

Why will that make me cringe?

I like all of them better than Vedder.

I went to a sports event, can't remember which, and the Pearl Jam guitarist played the national anthem. Not technically gifted guitar playing.

I'm not saying Pearl Jam haven't had a long successful career. Obviously they have a very devoted fan base.

I just don't think their body of work in terms of a string of all time classic LPs puts them in the GOAT conversation. As I've said before, Ten is Top 5 album of the early 90s. VS, Vitalogy, and No Code are all good (not great) albums. After that I'm pretty much meh on PJ.
