Apparently, you didn’t bother to look at the link. It outlines statements he made as a senator as far back as 2007; in the debates against McCain; his stated foreign policy positions related to Afghanistan and Iraq, etc. during the 2008 campaign.
Why does the US need to care about Afghanistan? Let the Taliban run wild. It was always dumb and a lost cause.
I agree. Unfortunately, Obama doubled down on stupid in the 2008 election by calling the Afghanistan battlefield, the “real war” and increased troop deployments there.
A part of Obama and the Democratic Party’s position in 2008 was winning the “real war” in Afghanistan . . .
I think “good war” was the term being floated around. Not the dumb war in Iraq that Bush had. But the good one in Saudi Arabia Afghanistan where the 9/11 terrorist came from.

Its true. Obama was afraid to be the guy that lost Afghanistan. Trump would have been impeached. Again. For abandoning our allies in Afghanistan
Joe gets a pass. He's not Trump
Nothing else matters
After he was elected, he announced when they would be withdrawn after it took him months to decide how many to add.
Meanwhile, the Biden Administration is furiously trying to re-establish negotiations with the Taliban.
I'm not going to say we should stay or go depending on who is in office
Trump would want to pull troops and the left would start screaming about the Kurds
Afghanistan was doomed. If they aren't ready after 20 years they never will be
